Welcome to the forum. The D prefix was used two different periods on large frame Hammerless .38's but those patent date markings indicate a third model made in 1910 for smokeless powder .38 S&W ammo. It should have a coil type main spring.

The last two dates should read AUG.25.96 and SEPT.6.04

thanks for the info i hadf just purchased gun at a auction for 90 dollars i was just wandering if i had wasted my money
