Crazy rita traffic

A trip from Victoria TX to San Antonio TX. usually takes 2 hours, to day it took some friends of mine 9 hours to get there.Same thing for some friends of my sister coming from Houston TX to Victoria,it normally takes 2 hours also, today it took 8 hours.I do not know why they were coming to Victoria scense we were under a manatory evacuation.I feel sorry for all those people in Houston struck on the freeway,who have ran out of gas.

WE are going to dig in for now.I know we should not wait untill the last minute, but we have our Suburban loaded and ready to go if need be.The highways around here are crazy.WE should have left two days ago,but were unable to. Looks like we are going to miss the worse part of the storm right now.

Is the traffic in North Texas getting worse from the evacuees? I am heading home from OKC tomorrow afternoon and am going to try to take the less congested route.

I have heard it bad all the way to Lubbock.We made resevation at a motel yesterday in Pecos TX 8 hr from here.It was the closest one we could find.
