Well I had been thinking about getting a 1911 for quite a while. I had just come off the ship i was working on for the previous 6 months and decided I would get myself a late Christmas present. So about 2 weeks ago I purchased my first, but definately not last, pistol. The Kimber Custom II. And let me tell ya I am DEFINATELY very happy with my purchase. I tested the trigger and it weighed in right at 4 1/2 lbs. Ive put about 300 rounds of Winchester 280gr through it and Im very happy with the way it shoots. It comes with fixed sights which are dead on at 25yrds. If your thinking about getting one DO IT! Its a wonderful life long investment. If you think it might be too much gun? Im 5'9" 150lbs and have somewhat small hands(Im not very big) and it handles so smooth and easy for me. My wife is getting more interested in shooting so I cant wait till we go out and get her one!
Happy Easter and Happy Shooting!

Congrats on your purchase. Feed your new Kimber well and often, keep it cleaned and oiled, and it will last several lifetimes.

Glad you like it. I'm very pleased with my Kimber as well. Mine is a higher end model, but I haven't heard many people talk bad about any model Kimber. I'll be glad when I can get a conversion kit for it so I can shoot cheaper.

Yeah I thought about getting a higher end but decided against it for my first. When my wife and I get her one we may get a pricer one. Whats this about a conversion kit and shooting cheaper?

There's a conversion kit that will allow you to shoot .22 instead of the .45. You basically replace the slide and barrel and you're ready to shoot .22. Might be good for your wife to start out with especially if she's not used to heavy recoil. I cant remember who all makes them. You can get one through Kimber, but it may be higher priced. Basically the same item, just with Kimber on the slide.

The TLE has the light rail, doesn't it? That's a nice piece.

Good Luck on your new Kimber............I've had several and I can't say that I had a bad one yet..........They are good guns for all the goodies & etc. that you get in with the price.

The TLE RL has the light rail. The basic TLE does not. Having the rail will add about $100 to the price.

Congrats on your purchase. Please be aware that with Kimber and most 1911s you should put 300-500 rounds through it to break it in properly before relying on it for self defense. Malfunctions during this time are not unusual; they build guns so tight these days it takes a few hundred rounds for everything to jell properly.
