Hello All,
I heard about your forum from a couple of law enforcement friends so here goes. I have, from my father another old Marine, a Winchester Mod.70 Super grade in .270 caliber serial#58971. It has a Kumarsky Brothers detachable scope mount with a Bausch&Lomb Balvar 8 scope mounted on it. He purchased the rifle new after getting out of the Corps in about 1943 and took reasonable care of it. It's been well used but also well cleaned after every kill; still shows the normal wear but shoots outstanding.
I have a daughter in the Coast Guard who could use some economic help so am considering disposing of this rifle.
Question: Should I cold re-blue it first or leave it in original condition?
Enclosed is a Pix and wouls appreciate any and all info.

it looks to be in fine shape, as long as there is no pitting or rust on any of the metal, I would leave it as is.

Absolutely DO NOT reblue the piece. You can also contact the gun show people about finding the collectors for this piece. It definately is a collector. The guy that runs Lewis Clark gun shows collects these but watch him on price. You can also tell him I stated that. Bob Sisson USN Ret.

Knowing you, Ron, you'll probably end up buying it for about $1.98 out of pocket. :D;):p

Forward at the double... CHARGE!!!
Oh, by the way, very nice M-70. Was it mine and I had a choice in the matter, I'd keep it and pass it on to the shooter in the next generation.

You've shot a possible and I've seen the light. My coastie daughter has shot expert on every weapon she's qualified with and deserves her grandfathers weapon. Pop was a WWII Marine who was on Saipan.
Sooo... anybody want a C-5 Vette?:D
