Tonight at the Thursday night pool shoot get together there were eight of us old dehorn cops (and one dentist) and the conversation turned to politics. To a man, all agreed that either Obama or Clinton will be a devastating force with which us gun enthusiasts must deal if one of those two end up as our president. From outright attacks on the 2nd Amendment through new laws to the appointment of new Supreme Court Justices. It was agreed that this presidential election is probably one of the most important for us in a long time.

It was also agreed that just as much, if not more, attention must be directed toward the elections for the Senate and House positions (both federal and state). While the president wields much power with respect to the appointments to the Supreme Court those appointments must go through confirmation.

It is imperative we direct as much of our efforts toward congressional positions as this presidential race. Sitting on our holstered guns will kill us.

I'm inclined to agree with you... but at the same time every generation, every two/four/six years likes to think they are special. Every election is one of the most important, every election new voters are showing up in masses, every election college students all the sudden "care"... and it always ends up to be a bunch of bull.

But like I said I'm inclined to agree. I guess we will just have to wait a few years before we will know for sure. :D
