I'm thinking of buying another pistol in .45 ACP. It will not be a primary concelaed weapon, I use my P99 for that and am very happy with it. I really just want a decent, accurate, non-junk .45 to take to the range. I'm thinking either a Rock Island 1911 GI or an S&W99. Another possibility is a new Sig P250. Any thoughts and/or comments would be appriciated.

I have a Taurus 1911 and they are quality pistols without breaking the bank. The S&W M&P45 would be another good choice as would the SA XD45. You could always get a .45 ACP revolver. Many good Smiths and Tauruses out there. Other than the 1911 I would opt for the M&P. I haven't shot an XD yet so shooting one might change my mind.

I would suggest a 1911. There are many to choose from in different price ranges.
I have several and there is always room for another.

Gotta be a 1911. I started a similar thread about a month ago for a high cap 45acp, but I would not give up any of my 1911's. They have the best feel of any .45 you will look at.

In .45, nothing beats a good 1911. Another would be a Glock or Springer XD 45.

Thanks for all the advice. I still haven't really made up my mind about it yet though.

I have a new RUGER P345, it is a great shooter. This is a departure from the earlier P-series, it has a polymer frame and a steel top end. The grip is very comfortable and not brick-like as some of the early P-series have been compared. Here are a couple of pic of my P345...

I've always been a big fan of the 1911A1; My 1943 Ithaca is one of the few firearms that will be with me till the end. With that said, to celebrate the Supreme Court decision, I purchased an S&W MP45 and I must say that is one fine shooter. I have been very pleased with its’ performance and the muscle memory that I have acquired from years with the 1911 served me well with the MP45, the control are so similar. After hundreds of rounds, of various manufacturers, one weekend of CQC shooting she preformed without a single problem. I highly recommend one.

I also am kinda looking for another .45. I have pretty much decided to wait around until Springfield XDm comes out in a .45 but I have looked at Rugers, too.

+2 on the Taurus PT 1911. And they have a $75 rebate until 12/31. I bought one love it. General concensus is that it is a great value. Whittaker Guns in Owenboro, KY has one for just a few $s over $500. With teh rebate that gets you down to $425 for a well equipped 1911 .45 with a lifetime warranty.
