Welcome KingPin....nice looking ship...what year was that photo taken? Come on back King and tell us some stories...Liberty in Hong Kong ought to be worth some tall tales!!!! I made it to Hong Kong from Subic Bay in early 1953 on R&R....Bought some bell bottom blues that had dragons in the sleeves and under the collar...Nice fit and the trousers were the 13 button style..I had been issued the new zipper style in boot camp in '51 and I hated them...Bought an ivory ball about the size of a soft-ball that had intricate lace carvings of a ball within a ball about 4 times over....Sent it home to my sister.....Remember, some stories Pin.....Chief

We carried 8-56' boats, 6-36' boats, and 2-36' Speed type boats. Those are what we used to deliver the Marines and their stuff up to near the college.
Was definitely a great experience for a 19 year old from central Wa.
Liberty in HK was great. 1965-1967. Five Hong Kong dollars to the US $. Also had the cool lookin' blues with the Dragons. Got to see some of the prettiest country in the world and get shot at by someone that didn't even know me. They missed, I am here.

I was on the Winston as well in 1969 Vietnam. I really liked the Winston and the Liberity as well.

I took the USS Pyro to Hong Kong in '88, wonderful town, and the exchange rate was better. :)
