All is lost Tranter. The only solution would seem to be to crack open a liter of Scotch and join the party. :D;)

Do NOT be a spectator! These opportunities only come "once in a blue moon!" That's the advice I'd give to you; however, for me, being of the fairer sex, I'd rather have a room full of male Brazilians who have been drinking. . ."Be still my beating heart!"

Pull out the BIG gun & let em have it.
Rod Ejection:
A system primarily used on solid frame revolvers, in which ejection is accomplished by rotating the cylinder so that each chamber in turn aligns with the ejector rod mounted under the barrel, and with the loading gate, out through which the spent case may be pushed

Hey Trantor! Seems like I recall in one of your earlier threads you saying your wife is Brazilian. Would this be her with some of her countrymen (or countrywomen as it were)?
And what the hell are you doing on-line at a time like this? Get back in there or you're gonna miss something!! We do expect an after action report complete with pics!!!:D:D

Hello and best to you...they say you're never supposed to have sewn that many wild oats..but I guess I did or just too old and tired...:D:D cause Im more interested to hear about the AGM..i'm assuming stands for "anti gun movement..what with horrible gun rights loss we have observed from cross the "pond"...of course.we may be on similiar agenda per some...im guessin the "gun club " would consist of shotshell single or overunder/sisebyside..isnt that all thats allowed ?
That wouldnt be the end of the world if I could have a fine English side by side..recently observed a program devoted to them and prices still all above $ 175K..for the gotta haves....
According to some of my buds...the art of applying metal to shot to propellant for purposes of contact and the art and pureness of it..they still hold the title "perfection".
Anyway just tryin to think of chat...as my were gonna's all taken....pics..viagra...eat an oyster/..etc..all taken.
And besides as engineer I sometimes first read too literally....please remember I am last person to even joke about a misspell :D but on first read..I was waiting for a punchline....."woman" as in old groucho marx line " when she sat around the house..she sat AROUND the house:D:D:D I assumed you were talking womEn...
anyway...cheers............:p:D

Yes, they were all women, friends of my wife. I dont speak Portuguese but they seemed to be having a great time. Me? I sat in another room with a can of Coke, a large bar of chocolate and you lot on my lap!!!!
Photos for you lot? Right...that's gonna happen. 'I am taking pictures to put on an open forum on the internet' Right...
AGM by the way is Annual General Meeting. Official clubs, companies , etc., have them. To give you a taste we discuss fees, bookings, ranges, competitions. As usual one guy won almost all the cups. They did make him get up and walk forward, accept the cup and return to his seat for every one though! Most of them he had bought in, having had them last year. It was pointed out by one member that he and his father mostly score competitions? We all laughed but he's just a really good shot. Another guy who won another cup called over to the first while picking it up with 'thanks for the loan of your rifle'. The RCOs (Range Officers) report stated no one had been shot in the last 12 months! so they were quite happy.
We talk a lot and have a buffet supper, there is a bar. Annoying news includes those of us allowed to shoot on a nearby military range, our past record having been sufficient authorisation in the past, now need a certificate of competence, which needs to be renewed annually. Apparently this is not the military speaking but government. Great, another hurdle to add to the hoops.

1shot1k, through my shooting career in the UK they took away our self loading rifles, then they took away our handguns, restricted shotgun mags to 2 and various other things.
In short, we still have rifles, mainly bolt action and what we call 'straight pulls' that's self loaders without the gas system. It's not perfect, but were still shooting.
I am luckier than most having worked with firearms over many years, and knowing several people in the industry, I can shoot pretty much anything in several countries.
Art. No I dont blame you for trying. You would have liked it here last night. Yes, my wife being Brasilian they tend to gather in flocks! (Very noisy, like geese).

are handguns completely out-lawed or can you have a special permit / know some one in high places ? pay some one off ? sorry if that offends not sure graft and corruption are part of the program. being from illinois corruption is standard operating procedure. and the only way to carry a handgun if you know someone and are willing to pay and then you get the ok. there are some "special circumstances" that help make it more automatic but paying off is easier

Completely illegal. The only ones carrying handguns are police, military and gang members. That's it.
The anti gun fervour has reached insane levels here. Recently a police armed response team turned up when a couple of young men were seen in a field with shotguns. They were doing nothing illegal, but went through the ' lie down' bit at the wrong end of MP5s anyway.
Not common, I admit but the overkill is typical of the authorities today. I find the whole situation very sad. It is what we have become, Winston Churchill, a gun enthusiast himself, is no doubt turning in his grave.
The people running this country today should be ashamed of themselves. They disgrace the memory of the many thousands who died over the last thousand years to build a free country. They, needless to say, dont see it that way. Bhhaaa.

now need a certificate of competence, which needs to be renewed annually.
Very sad! Would it be reasonable to assume that there is a 'fee' associated with this competence certificate?
On a lighter note: Being fluent in several languages, my ex-wife often befriended foreign grad students studying at the local university. Our living room and kitchen area was often filled with an almost musical roar of foreign tongues and perspectives, one aspect of that relationship that I miss, dearly.

If one owned an automobile that required frequent, expensive visits to the garage, excessive liability insurance, along with expensive accessories in order to run well, we would describe it as ‘high-upkeep’.

‘Section 5’ Prohibited Weapons
‘Section 5’ covers weapons that are prohibited unless special permission is granted by the Home Secretary. This section covers automatic weapons, military weapons and modern handguns. Specialist collectors and dealers are able to gain Section 5 authority but is will not be available to the vast majority of shooters and collectors. http://www.met.police.uk/firearms-enquiries/f_prohb2.htm provides full details of the list and restrictions.
Handguns can be granted for humane despatch. Professional stalker and pest controller
You can still apply for a section 5 weapon and (theoretically) if you have a valid reason it will be granted. It is said there are people who have them. There was a story going round that was the subject of an editorial in Target Sports saying that following pressure from Washington hundreds of prominent Americans living in Britain had been issued with Licences.
