I heard that and kind of laughed... It didn't bother me because I know it's not always true. There ARE some 'bubbas' out there who are willing to do whatever/whenever and that's what I thought about when Beck said it in his online video.
With that said, let it go over as a grain of salt. I believe more than your average 'bubba' is preparing for whatever could happen next...

I agree....I don't think he meant it in a bad way...and didn't the guy from the army call it the bubba effect? I can't remember right now cuz I've had a couple....:)
Glen goes a little wacko....but they all have their moments....

Beck is alright. I have heard him at other times and he has been decidedly pro-gun and pro-second amendment.

Yes, this was a term that Glenn picked up from one of the experts he had on the TV program Friday. I want to say it was the Homeland Security guy, but I'm not sure.
Glen goes a little wacko....but they all have their moments....
Glenn goes wacko a lot, but I think the radio show is really where he shines. He is better able to focus on principles, the founding fathers, etc. in the longer, less constrained radio format.
He's not perfect (no one is), but he's definitely on our side. I for one am glad that he's now on Fox News... though I'd prefer him to be in the 7:00 time slot.

me too....I don't get to see him at 5 and usually only catch the last 5 minutes of his show when I get home from work. I'm off on fridays so that's the only show I get to watch.
I listen to Rush and Hannity on the radio from work...and by the time I get home I have to rush to this forum just to unwind... :D

Bubba will survive.
Glenn is a Mormon, stocking up is part of their tenant.
No offense met to Mormons, that is something I admire about them. :)
Glenn is a gun owner. Give him a few views Mike.
I wish him and O'wazhisface would swap time slots.

glocknut,
I have to agree with previous posters here, and I am gonna go out on ledge here for Glenn. Ya know like in the old mobsters movies. I'm vouching for the guy. So if he turns out to be a schmuck you can leave a dead horse in my bed. I say he's ok and didn't mean any disrespect, that's just what one of his guests, who's said he's heard that's what they call us.

but anybody that slings slang out there , unjustly accusing me and my peers as "bubba" types..may just get a visit from me and my dogs..!...

It might have come off wrong but Glen Beck is on our side, one of only a few. I listen to Beck everyday, he is a true conservative and a big gun rights person. I understand what he is trying to say, hell , if all people in the media was like Glen Beck, I do not think the general public would have such a negative feeling about guns. The public listens to people like Oprah, O'donnell and a few more anti gun nuts and they think that is the gospel.

While I don't always watch him, he's still my favorite talk-show host for TV. I usually watch Leo Laporte for radio and podcasting.
However, Glen Beck still flaps his lips more then any many normal human, in this world.

It's like Hank said, "I got a shotgun, a rifle and a 4 wheel drive, and a country boy can survive...." I'm surprised no one has said this yet in this thread... :D
BTW 1shot1k, my son liked those bubba tooth 'doggies'... :D

Mike...you're a bald man with an assault rifle, it's to late to be offended by cute little names like 'Bubba', baby!:p:D:D:D
Of all the things in this country that currently concern me, being called "bubba" ain't hardly on the list.

My first post here...so Hi!
I kinda like Glen Beck. I'd never knew of him before last year on that OTHER station and was surprised they could tolerate the diversity of his opinion and their own. Didn't last long over there for obvious reasons. I will say that I've seen him do the whiney cry thing about half dozen times and I can do without it. I know he's impassioned, but if he's gonna represent a conservative man on the news channel I'd like it if he could try not to bawl while he reads a dang teleprompter or speaks to a guest.
I'm not trying to call him a pansy or anything...I know he is just passionate about the issues, but it turns me off. I like a stoic, more serious newscastor/analyst.
The ex-army guy said "Bubba effect" was a term the military actually uses in planning for quelling uprisings and speaking of the individual militias that might erupt. I hope that isn't the case if it ever actually happens. Individual militias are weak and disconnected from supplies etc. I would hope those folks would have some means of communication with like-minded folks and a larger force ability.

The "bubba effect" is a term used by the controlling elitists, those in military, BATFE, etc.
Glenn was just interviewing those that could talk about the "bubba effect."
Glenn is alright, most of the time. He's coming around now, to our way of thinking, even moreso, the more he finds out.
When he was talking to those two guys about that, they actually scared him a little, because they advocated fighting back against a tyrannical government.
Watch him Monday night, because he's supposed to have those two guys back on to talk more about it. :D

Glenn is OK. I've been listening to him for a few years now and though he sometimes goes a little off the deep end he is one of the good ones out there. I don't think he coined the term "Bubba Effect". It was a term used by people who were "Wargaming" certain possible senerios of what might happen if another Waco, border incident or Ruby Ridge type of event happened. It was felt by them that since the advent of the 'net and more people connected to each other in the past few years that there might be a large group of folks show up to assist anyone under seige.
I like Glenn. He can be a touch on the dark side sometimes but his reasoning is sound and he goes out of his way to seek out people with real world experiense when he needs opinions.

Yeah, once they explained what the "bubba effect" was, I turned to my wife and said, "well, gee, I guess I can totally identify with that -- sign me up to be a bubba too then."
It refers to (in a derogatory way) those that take the time to prepare for almost any eventuality, someone who is self-sufficient. The government types coined it this way because they don't want the populace in that type of mind set at all -- one that is self sufficient -- they want mindless drones to command and enslave.
I pray to God that the "bubba effect" takes hold on millions of Americans in the next several months. Nothing could be better. :D:eek:

Mike, replace the “bubba effect” with “Constitutionalists” instead.
You know, those of us who know what James Wilson and our other founding Fathers were talking about when they referred to our Natural Rights and how to deal with tyranny.

Amen!
The Bubba Effect hit me about a year ago. My girlfriend thought it was completely crazy... then about four months back, it hit her, too.
Now both of our families are starting to get it. My mom actually told my 20 year-old brother to buy guns now and just take out extra loans for college--a thought that was wholly foreign to her just 6 months before.
It's spreading, but not quickly enough!

I would like to propose a much more appropriate label. Constitutional Family. All of you wonderful men and women here I consider my Constitutional brothers and sisters. This could be more accurately described as people who stand up for everyones rights. The group of us, here and elsewhere, that stand together are a Constitutional family, commited to preserving our rights, as well as the rights of those who disagree with us. The survivalist mentality is just one aspect of preparation. That is, preparing to back our words with action.

Yeah Iv'e heard him on radio and he seems ok but I dont really care about his "I'm an ex alcoholic" or "recovering". People( in my small opinion) dont need to tell us they are exc alcoholics or recovering. I dont really care. I don't go for the subtle B.S.. There are people dying of cancer and heart disease and other REAL DISEASES that didnt do anything to deserve it. If you're a drunk that's your fault period.
