Some have noticed that i've been off line lately.
Had to do the move, took a position as assist. manager
for a 8 apartment unit. Had to play captain hard ...
Took a few days to figure out where my phone line
had been sabotaged at.
but here is a couple of photo's for some great people
here on the forum. Not only my peers, but my teachers also.
And those that are student's.
You enrich my life.

Nice cartridge collection. I like the knife with the deer horn handle looks like you also have some "old timer" jacknifes. Bean soup? looks good. Nice purple flower closeup.

Good to see you back, my friend... Would like to see more of the fixed blade with the (ivory?) handle.

What kind of flower is that, love the vivid colors!

The faux handle is attached to a replica, given to me by an old friend. Luftwaffe, i'll post a photo of it and the sheath.

The flower is called a princess plant. first bud to open. she's about 4 ft. tall.
waiting for it to flush. not as crisp as it should be, wind was blowing.

Here you go, a couple back at you. Cartridges including .45 Boxer (In case of Zulus), .577, .458 Win Mag (In case of efalumps) and a pin fire. Oh, the big fellers a .50 for comparison, and the cross bow bolt is for any history buff's, dug up near here. The bolt, not the history buffs.

The paper, thats just showing off! Its a disgrace!

Oh and a small collection of K98 bayonets, each has a reason.

The bolt head appears to be designed for armor?

The bullet set up photo was my son unpacking some of my cartridges.
Thing was, we hadn't moved yet.
Soons i figure out what ammo box there in,
i'll get them set up, photo'd, and labeled.
He had dug out a bunch of .401 sl win.
a few h&h rounds, and maybe a .50-110
and assorted.

Ya always have to be prepared for Zulu's:D

Well spotted, yes, its an early AP projectile. Its from a cross bow. Never popular in England where we preferred the longbow. Did you know King Henry VIII made in compulsory for every male between I think 15 and 50 to practice with the longbow every Sunday. Thus guaranteeing a nation of soldiers. Can you imagine the same today with shooting?

The .45 boxer must work, we haven seen any Zulu trouble in East Anglia ever, or elephants.

Actually, Tranter, yes I can. There would be a host of amusing apoplexies, but a nation of trained riflemen would be a one of the best ways I can think of to ensure a free people.

There were a few years that i shot 100 times with my bow a day.
9 arrows in a 9 in. pie plate at 50 yrds. wasn't even a challenge.

I really enjoyed seeing the Western humpback knife. I carried one for many years. When it wore out I replaced it with the Case humpback. That was the basis of the knife I designed for Bo Randal to build for me when I was in Alaska.

Pops, i had another that was the next size up.
It was my very first bought my self knife.
Lost it, and the story has to do with an out house,
and a snowy winter night:(

The one pictured is the wife's:eek::D

Another historical tidbit on the bolt head: much like the "bodkin" arrowhead used by longbowmen, the slender point was very good at penetrating chainmail links. They were made of soft iron usually though, and failed against hardened plate armor unless the arrow found an opening. Another primary reason for the shape was that it was easy to hammer out a lot of them quickly and cheaply.
Even back then they used the lowest bidder I guess! :)
