I was just listening to a Xavier Cugat recording, from his compilation album 1940 - 44. I was thinking it did not sound like Carmen singing, so I started checking to see if she was singing with him in that time period.
I KNEW that she had been a singer with his band, and that she had been married to him.
WRONG. She married this guy in '47, described in her online bio as a "failed movie producer". Apparently he married her for her money. He was a drunk and was abusive, but she was a good Catholic and did no divorce him. And, aside from appearing in a couple of movies with Cugat, I can't find any record of her singing with him.
