How Pathetic !!
"Not fun and games"
Lynch announces "Toy Gun Bash"-May 17th event to feature swap of toys for
toy
guns, provide free gun locks
Providence, RI - Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch today announced that
the
Department of Attorney General will hold a "Toy Gun Bash" on Saturday, May
17,at
the Mount Hope Learning Center in Providence.
Children 14 and under who attend will be the first to use the
"Bash-O-Matic," an
aptly named device that will be invented just for this event. Devised and
built
by students at the New England Institute of Technology, the "Bash-O-Matic"
has a
single purpose: to destroy toy guns. In return for "giving up their guns,"
Lynch
said children will receive a substitute toy (valued at between $5 and $10)
and
be eligible to win additional prizes.
- - You just know the anti-gunners are desperate when they have to try to
brainwash kids into giving up their "Toy Guns" !! .... These people are
the
lowest of the low in my books !

Hello WAGCEVP and welcome to The Firearms Forum.
We can take this opportunity to teach our children to become entrepreneurs... sell that old toy for the money to get a new 1:D

That's got to be as bad as Alabama banning "adult" toys.
(Did I say that out loud?)
That never stopped me as a kid. If my toy gun was broken there was always a chunk of wood to carve into a gun shape. But then again that's probably still considered a toy gun and will soon be considered contraban.
What's next...butter knives and forks?

I think even finger guns are banned now, aren't they? God forbid we should offend anyone by pointing a loaded finger at 'em.

I think your right WAGCEVP. I believe a kid was suspended for point a semi-auto finger gun at a fellow student.

Actually, it is illegal to pretend that your finger is a gun.
If you don't believe me, go into a bank with your hand in your coat pocket, and pretend it's a gun while asking for money. Don't demand money, just point your finger at the teller through your coat pocket and ask nicely if he/she will give you all the money in the drawer. Say "please".
Toy guns are dangerous, folks. When I was a kid, I was shot multiple times by my brothers with toy guns. Those imaginary bullets required imaginary surgery and cost me years of imaginary rehabilitation. Not to mention the imaginary therapy and imaginary debt that I incurred due to the imaginary medical treatment. And the true criminals didn't even get any imaginary jail time for their imaginary crimes! :D
Really, I was injured by a toy gun. My brother threw his toy rifle backwards over his shoulder when he had my other brother trapped. He was going to finish him off with hand-to-hand combat. His rifle struck me right between the eyes and busted an artery. I sprayed blood all over the side of the house. Of course, this was back when toy guns were pretty heavy and actually looked like guns.
If I had any small children, I would gladly go turn in their toy guns. And while I was there, I would make it a special point to tell the people that the reason I was turning in these toy guns is so we could make room for my kids' new guns. Real ones.

not only are toy guns dangerous , but so are swings, 'specially back when I was kid and swings were made of metal. I was standing on the wrong end of a metal swing when my older sis pulled it back with noone in it and released it :) Hit me right between the eyes......... Blood every where, my first stitches .....
Should we have a swing turn in?

Does this mean that if I get my kids a "Junior Doctors Kit" for Christmas that they can be sued for malpractice?

I seem to be in the minority here, but I am not a big fan of toy guns. This may have something to do with the fact that I've had the real thing since I was 4 yrs. old and my first lesson in what a firearm could do was my .410 and one very dead tree rat.
I had squirt guns but never a cap gun or anything that could possibly be mistaken for the real thing. I do not believe that we need to teach children to run around acting like they are shooting thier friends because it desensitizes them to the real carnage that can be brought about by a real firearm.
My opinion: Give them the real thing at a young age, teach them to respect and fear a firearm, and the damage it can cause in the right hands and then you don't have to worry about the money for toy guns events that happen in your community.
That's just my opinion,CA:mad:

I would like to see one of the Local Gun shops, if there are any left in that area, advertise that they will give $15.00 per toy pistol traded in an a new gun for the Parents. In fact I will make that offer myself, but the logistics might be a factor here. ;) :p

not only are toy guns dangerous , but so are swings
Swings are very dangerous...they are the instrument of the devil :D ....I flipped my porch swing and landed right on the cement...cracked my head...know what is also dangerous CARS! (how many people die a year from car related accidents...i don't see anyone wanting to smash cars...God forbid, can't give up our glorious polluting...resource sucking...killing machine vehicles).
I wouldn't be to crazy about my child running down a busy street waving around a fake "real" looking gun...because that can cause some serious chaos...because of the way people are today (and they have a right to be).
As the old saying goes "If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns"

Some of them vehicles that are so popular today
don't even look friendly to me (suv's) that is why
i call them "ASSAULT " vehicles. ;)

This is why we can't win the "War on Terror". "They" teach and educate their children to hate and kill us, we teach and educate our children to be perfect victims.

Hi RobW, that was one hell of a first impression.
IMHO, the most dangerous toy is the Yo-Yo, which was a Filipino weapon.
What about Easy Bake ovens? You could sue because they don't thoroughly cook meat.
As George Carlin said, "we are raising a society of p*@#y's!!!"
When we were kids we played war and cowboys and indians ( sorry, native americans) and if we got hurt, we either sucked it up and went on playing or we cried, got mom make some cookies and then went back and played.:D

Texan, as a matter of fact, it was Cowboys & Indians that we were playing when my brother busted that artery in my face. I probably should have sued the Indians for it, too. I'm sure some liberal judge somewhere would have found them responsible.
I always wanted a yo-yo like that dude from Octopussy. Mess you up, man!
