I just picked up a new rifle chambered for 204 Ruger. Looks to be a terrific varmint round. Over 4000 feet/second is moving!
Anyone have any experience with this caliber?
Anyone reloading this caliber?
thanks!

t1 - welcome to the forum.
Yes to both questions. I have a New England Firearms/H&R Handi Rifle in .204 Ruger that I really like. It shoots very well for a budget priced rifle. I have been loading the .204 since I first bought the rifle. I load a 32 grain Hornady V-max bullet pushed by 27 grains of Varget. I tried 40 grain bullets but they tumbled (key holed) out of the 22 inch barrel.

I'm shooting a savage 12fv 26" HB, I did put a McGowen barrel on it, I went to a 11twist barrel and 11degree crown to beable to shot the 40gr. berger bullets better. I'm useing benchmark powder and br4 primers the load is over max so i 'm not going to say what weight of powder i'm useing. But my fps is running at 3860 and it will group in the 1s when i do my job at 100yds. Now this summer i'll be testing the load at 2 & 300yds this summer to see if it well hold up. Have fun with yours they are a fun little gun and very accurate when you fine that load your gun likes.

ryan, I am glad to hear about the one hole with the 34 gr dogtown bullets. I bought some of the 34 grain bullets and reloaded a bunch of brass with them but haven't shot them yet. :)
t1 - It is Thompson not Thomas, I corrected it above.;) I have been thinking about buying a 14 inch .204 barrel for my Contender. The cheapest one that I have found is $227.95, online. Does yours have a scope or does it have the adjustable iron sights? Is it a rifle barrel or a pistol barrel?
