This was in October of 2009 but I just found this forum and wanted share.

In Memory of Jackie Garnett

I did a funeral service for a Vet today! He served with the 101st Airborne. 3 tours of Nam in Special Ops! One of the first Green Berets to enter Nam. What a guy!

We get to the grave side and there is the Honor Guard. I completed my part with Scripture and Prayer and then the Honor Guard starts folding the flag. Just prior to that though, you know what took place! The Honor Guard salutes the Flag draped casket and about half way across the Cemetery, just out of sight, another Honor Guard member plays taps! That is just more than I can handle no matter how much I try to prepare for it. Of course if the family hasn't lost it by now with grief and pride, taps pushes you emotionally over the edge.

Only God knows what he and other Green Berets, and other infantry members went through but to live through 3 Tours when a life expectancy probably was in the neighborhood of about 7 Minutes is a Miracle in itself.

Thank you for your service to your country sir. Thank you for answering a call to do things nobody should ever have to do but for Freedom must be done. Thank you for being and All American! Thank you for proudly defending the Constitution of the United States of America against all Enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Thanks to all the Vets on Firearms Forum for your part in Freedom and Character of America that honors the Founders to Whom Freedom was non-negotiable! Thanks to all those on Foreign Soil for your love of Freedom and have VOLUNTEERED to Stand for and defend what so few even in high places State Side seem to comprehend is a God Given Right!

I'm Proud to be an American where at Least I know I'm Free. And I won't forget those who died and gave that right to me. And I will still up next to you and defend her here today. God Bless the USA!

I messed up the lyrics bad but you get the idea! Thanks to all in Uniform today and all to all those to whom the bugle has sounded. We Salute you! Thank you So very much! May God Bless you and Keep you Safe!

Had to share it in light of this Weekend! I sick and tired of Washington spitting on the Graves of my Ancestors and all those who have made the ultimate contribution to Freedom and in the face of all who are still serving to keep Freedom alive. As Reagan Said, "IF we loose Freedom here, there is no place left to Go"!

I took the above oath a long time ago and it still beats strong in my heart today, to defend the Constitution, not a Man who wants to be King!

God Bless the USA.

Boze

Thank You JB for honoring Jackie in the manner you did...Oft times we hold inside us what should be said....today, by your offering up this noble gesture to Jackie with words, you allowed us others to share the feelings, emotions, and the sacrifice...Again I will repeat the song words I often do and as you did with Lee Greenwoods song of standing up for his country...Though with a different inflection here are those from the Brit, Roger Whittaker's song, THE LAST FAREWELL:

I HAVE NO FEAR OF DEATH, IT BRINGS NO SORROW, BUT HOW BITTER WITH BE THAT LAST FAREWELL....

I noted your cap, JB.....are you in law enforcement? Your posted picture reminds be of Tom Selleck....Chief

Rooter, that is Tom Selleck, although I do bear a slight resemblance. LOL!

No sir, I'm a Pastor in Alabama, just an ole Country Boy that loves God, Country and Jesse Stone Movies.

Take Care

Thank you for honoring this Special Forces hero, Jackie Garnett and sharing it with us.

During the VN war the Special Forces conducted many "highly secret special Recon & Raid operations" deep into enemy held areas (Cambodia, Laos, & N. Vietnam). It was not until many years after the War that most of these operations were declassified and their exploits became public knowledge. There is no telling how soldiers' lives they saved by conducting these dangerous over the border secret operations.

Seventeen SF soldiers were receipants of the Medal of Honor making it the most prominently decorated unit for its size in the VN War.

Jackie Garnett was indeed "special" and a hero to our country in every sense of the word. Rest in peace old soldier, your war is finally over.

Well JB, Old Tom Selleck is a good one to resemble...My barber, a Russian Jew from 'OZZ-BECK-I-STAN' (sounds like) has a really booming voice and he calls me "BUSH" because he thinks I look like 'W'....recently I went in to get trim and as soon as I entered the door, Mike shouted "BUSH" and then inquired to this black dude in the chair if he thought I looked like George W......the black guy squinted and scoped me out carefully and then exclaimed, "NO ****...HE SURE THE HELL DOES"....!
