Berkeley SC deputy cleared in bikini car wash investigation

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Sheriff's deputy involved in an investigation surrounding a bikini car wash for charity has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the county's legal office.

The unnamed deputy was photographed in a bikini washing cars with dancers from the Diamonds North Gentleman's Club.

According to Public Information Officer Dan Moon, the sheriff's and attorney's offices investigated the matter and determined that the deputy was not on duty and did not make use of sheriff's office resources while participating in the event.

"Her actions did not jeopardize the health, safety, or welfare of the citizens," Moon said. "She was involved in the event as a private citizen and did not violate the law, Berkeley County Sheriff's Office or [the] county's policies."

Berkeley County's investigation into the photographs came just a day after they surfaced on the Internet and a Mocks Corner police officer resigned after being scrutinized for taking a patrol car to the car wash.

The Mocks Corner Police Department issued a statement Tuesday saying the officer's actions were "a direct and negative reflection of the Mocks Corner Police Department."

According to Nicole Ewing in the Berkeley County Attorney's Office, the office is investigating the incident. Ewing said the sheriff's office and the attorney's office is aware of the pictures identify one of the women as a deputy and are launching an investigation.

The attorney's office has not released the name of the deputy in question or confirmed which of the women depicted is the deputy because she has not been accused or charged with anything at this point, Ewing said.

Ewing did not know what actions, if any, would result from the investigation.

Organizer of the event and owner of the Rock star Tattoo Studio Josh Badgett said the car wash was done to raise money for the Shiners Hospital. According to the tattoo shop's Facebook fan page, they brought in dancers from Diamonds North Gentleman's Club in North Charleston and charged $10 per car for a wash.

The Facebook page also promoted a 'date raffle' with one of the women from the club.

What are the chances that most of those girls smell like an ashtray. Pay for that no thanks.

This story proves I am a male chauvinist. Never even occurred to me that it was a woman deputy. Figgered it was a guy, and probably an old fat guy, wearing a bikini, as a joke, to participate in the bikini car wash for charity. I was hoping there would be pix.

The the off duty female deputy was cleared of any wrong doing, however, the male deputy in the photo was on duty and is still under investigation so the final chapter on this incident remains pending.

I wonder if a policeman won the 'date raffle'??????

You are not alone

If you knew two of the local Sheriff's deputies and one of the state troopers I know that wouldn't have been the image to pop in your head. I would have been there with my van, them my brothers truck, then I would have borrowed the neighbors car and.............well I guess I'd have to start over again. No tattoo's on two of them according to them and only one small one on a deputy but not where you were going to see it in uniform.

we'll i dunno what all the fuss is about

now the local SES ( State emergency service) here has bikini car washes , cake sale,s lucky ticket draws , lamington sales , and win dinner for two raffles sometimes with a local lovely , and once i won , got a nice dinner with a lady fire fighter and we talk shooting and hunting and idiots she's had to rescue most of the night , i had a ball

always worth helping out , besides i often get a great cake or similar back out of such things and know the money will get where its going instead of some telemarketers pocket getting 50% and often more...

so your sherriffs office dont want decent community relations?

or are the anti's complaining it was not for the socialist cause?

I have 12 years in law enforcement and I would have stayed clear of this mess-on or off duty.

If she's off duty, where did the second squad car come from?

I see only one squad car in the pictures posted above.
