the "K" letter code was used in 1904 on the small frame 32 S&W safety automatic hammer revolver. do not fire this revolver as it was designed for black powder cartridge pressures only.

Hi there,
I have an Iver Johnson .32 Revolver with the owls facing the barrel, serial number on the base of the grip on the bottom of the gun #31236. The gun is in about 70% shape, nickel plated. 5 shot, free wheels when not cocked. 3" barrel. Single lever on top to open (shown in picture). Has a button on the left side of the top strap in front of the take down lever that releases the cylinder. The rear sight actually goes through a rectangular hole in the top strap. No numbers anywhere else. SA/DA. Bore is clean and sharp.
I'm wondering the exact model and year of manufacture as I am trying to get a new cylinder (the teeth seem worn down and the cylinder shucks forward and back). Other than that it functions perfectly in single and double action.

OOPS!!
sweat it, if your brother in law shot 38 Special through this revolver, count his fingers to see if he still has them all. This is a black powder revolver chambered for the Black Powder 38 S&W. The 38S&W and the 38 Special are two different cartridges. The 38 S&W is a shorter and larger in diameter. more importaly, it is much less powerfull. Iver Johnson made good revolvers, but shooting 38 Special through it will blow it up sooner or later and take fingers with it. It is advised not to shoot it at all.
