My grandfather gave me this gun to me for my 12th birthday
(I'm now 16) If you could tell me the model and the year it was made it would be greatly appreciated.

The photos are worthless. We have no real information to go on. We need pictures of the entire gun, including all markings. At this point I suspect you have an H&R Handy Gun. Most of these in .410 are illegal to own. More and better photos and we'll tell you for sure what you have.

It's a topper model,
BB prefix of serial #= 1984 manufacture
Worth maybe $ 100 in excellent condition.

thanks jamesjo my grandpaw payed 100 for it from a local barber but money didn't really matter I just wanted to know if it was a regular topper model or on e of the other ones my granpaw told me it was a youth model. And to wonderwhippet every mark on the gun is shown in the pics one on each side of the spring bullet ejector thing one on the bottom in front of the trigger guard almost to the wood the markings on the side where the serial number is and the markings on top the barrel.

Jim, Check your math - BB = '85.
iroot - if your Grandpaw says it was a "youth" model then it was probably the Model 490 TOPPER JR. which was made in that time frame. The only difference between the "adult" and "youth" models being the length of the barrels (26") and butt stock is shorter on the kid's version (LOP ~12.5"). The actions and receivers are identical. Jim's valuation is right on the money, although .410 3" does usually gain a bit more interest.
p.s. Your pictures are fine - they show everything needed to ID this gun - as JamesJo can attestify.

Jim Hauff,
Thanks for the catch!
There I go, spewing the wrong information!
Usually, unless it is an AU prefix, I will check the list to be sure of DOM.
But No, not this time!
iroot, sorry for the confusion on DOM.
I'll try to be more careful in the future.

I would put the used value a lot closer to $50 - $75.00

I'm thinking to "iroot", considering the connection - this little gem has a much greater sentimental value.
