My wife found a package on our front porch this morning.... a gift from my mother. It had been delivered 2 days ago by UPS. My wife has been home all day every day due to her knee injury. She never heard a knock at the door. It seems that they just threw it on my porch and left.
The package was frozen steaks from Omaha Steaks. It's been sitting in the Texas heat for 2 days! Judging by the contents, this was a VERY expensive gift, and it's probably ruined now.
Why would a UPS guy leave something on the porch when it's obviously frozen meat? What kind of jackass does a thing like that? I'm going to take it up with UPS and at least give 'em a piece of my mind.

Go get 'em, Sniper!
They are bad to leave things on my carport, propped against the screen door. That's why I have made it a policy to specify delivery to my work address whenever I order something, even if it's not work-related. I just can't accept having things lying out in the open for anyone to see and take.

You think that's bad?
I fly very large rockets. So large, the motors are controlled by the ATFE as "Low Explosives." As such, I have to have a permit from the ATFE, a storage magazine and shipping is costly, because the DOT classifies them as 1.3C and UPS charges HazMat fees for them.
Rules on delivery are quite clear: Must be signed for. Must not be delivered to anyone underage.
Twice in the past, I've had boxes of them dropped on the porch and left with the 1.3C sticker on the side in full view of the street. UPS can be SO stupid.

I buy a lot of photographic gear and it is delivered by UPS. Several years ago, I called to complain that a package was not delivered and taken back to the station nearest me (about 35 miles away). Since then, they have always delivered to my front porch, but I have always watched the tracking number. Some times you have to give a little to get a little.
Sorry to hear about the steaks, because that is wrong. However, I buy a lot of film, due to my being semi-professional. I will not have film delivered during the summer months because of the Texas heat.

UPS sucks ass
I got a package today that was OPEN! they were floor mats for my car, still packaged and all but still it was open the dude just left it at the garage and did not knock ring or whatever. I called UPS and they are giving me 50% of the value of them. I explained they were fine, but they insisted. Another time I had my Crosman airgun worked on and UPS managed to break it, crack the stock (wood) and bend the barrel (metal) and it was packaged in a box that was reinforced. You CAN'T get those airguns from Crosman like that anymore, I have an aniversary model that is similar, but just not the same quality as that one.
Another time when I was into squirrel hunting with my blowgun I recieved a ripped open box with the barrel bent at about 50 degrees.
my directions when I order things under the comments or notes section on web pages is MAKE SURE UPS RINGS AND KNOCKS SEVERAL TIMES AND THAT IF I AM NOT THERE LEAVE IT AT THE BACK DOOR, they usually do, but sometimes they just suck like earlier today. I hate it when a place I order from is in bed with UPS, I tell them to switch to fed ex.
www.poopfacts.com <----- deliver poop to someone, they used to have a speel on there about how it was delivered by UPS United Poop Service, they come in their poop color trucks with poop color uniforms and deliver your poop.

Fortunately, Omaha Steaks is going to replace the order at no charge. They'll probably take it up with UPS to get reimbursed, but I'm still going to let UPS have a piece of my mind.
They already pissed my off a couple months ago, when they supposedly tried to deliver three rifles I had ordered. They left a note on my door that said I had to go pick it up. And of course, since I live so far away from town, their distribution center is about 30 miles away. So I know that they have the brains to not just leave a package on my doorstep. I just wish they had a better system of notifying me that they had been by. A tiny yellow note on my door doesn't do it. I never use my front door.
