Lysol and Holy Water would be more useful.

They finally complied, didn't they? Spray them all! They were told many times to leave, they just were not going to do what they were told to do, and then they got what they wanted! Now it's the fault of some one else! They didn't do anything wrong!

I don't think anyone ever died from a little pepper spray. It'll be good for them and build some character.

I'd say it was better than bird shot!

I've tried to care, but just can't. ;)

Shame on you for upholding the law and punishing my sorry butt for breaking it.

Hahaha....:D:D:D

Hope they get the sympathy they're looking for. They got none in Seattle.

I've read a lot of reactions about this news, and so many pros and cons are being written about those cops who pepper-sprayed the students. But my question is, whose fault is it really? the cops, the students or those who run the university?

I can see, barely, some reasoning behind the "setting up camp in the park". Park is public property. Although, if a bunch of winos set up a camp, or a hobo jungle started up, the whole town would be screaming for the cops to remove them.

College is different. A college campus is NOT public property. It belongs to the college.

You want to be in my yard, you do what I say. You don't want to do what I say, then you leave. You don't want to leave, I'll throw you out.

Set up a camp in the middle of campus? "Get that crap outa here". No, we're gonna stay and protest, man. Have a sit-in. Peace, man. "I don't think so. Police, get these people out of here".

It was the students fault. They were someplace they had no business being, and when asked to leave, they said no. When TOLD to leave they still said no, so they were ENCOURAGED to leave.

Now, I'm sure that someone will come up with, "They are students there, so they have a right to be there". No. Being a student at UC Berkley does not give you the right to be in the girl's PE locker room. Being a student at UCLA does not give you the right to be in the History professor's office after hours. And being a student at UC Davis does not give you the right to camp on the campus.

Yes, the liberal media here is very good about editing out the things which would cause the public to go against the occupy people.

Nope sorry I worked on it, but my "give a damn" is still busted. ;)

If the bunch of dirty hippies want to protest what makes this Country great, they should understand the consequences of their actions and be prepared to pay the piper.

This is U.C. Berkley folks, to the Leftys this is résumé enhancement.
"Yeah, I was there" will be the boast of these silly kids.
They should be glad for the opportunity, since they missed all the 'good' protests back during the 'Nam' war!
Sometimes I think Marx had Berkley in mind when he coined the phrase "useful idiots".

''The writer may very well serve a movement of history as its mouthpiece, but he cannot of course create it.''

''The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property.''

Yes it's the students' fault and the cops are blameless as far as I can see. But in a larger sense it's the university faculty and administration that's to blame. For decades that place has proudly boasted over the thousands of marxists they've turned out. Young socialists are nurtured there. The faculty has encouraged (and participated in) civil disobedience. This type conduct is what they've striven for. What else can they expect?

So,in the end,we all should behave and obey the cops(different from a LEO,I should know) no matter what.Always.Forever.Without question.

Yes, just like in the military...you obey all lawful orders.

God Bless our country, our founding fathers, our constitution, our 1st Ammendment.

Defend it !
You better defend the right of people to "assemble".
You better start thinking.
Some of the comments here are VERY UN-American.

When some jack boot is stomping on an american's rights, you better believe your rights are being stomped as well.
Very sad.:(

It is no longer "peaceful assembly" when you are on private property and the owners have told you to leave. It is then "criminal trespass".

Whoa, whoa, whoa. How much tax do I pay, on EVERYTHING ! ! !

These colleges recieve grants, tax breaks all kinds of FEDERAL Assistance. This land is my land pal. My dollars go to tuition, to grants, to YOU NAME it. It's "public" whether you call it that or not.

From the mouths of a few police officers I know. What the cop did was totally in the means of dispersing a crowed.

You tell them to leave the area. Then you warn them that if they don't leave you will pepper spray them. Then you spray the CRAP out of them. It is for their safety and the police. You spray them so they are to busy rubbing their eyes and don't fight too much.

You don't own something just because your tax dollars subsidize it. By your reasoning I own the street and therefore have the right to stand in the middle of it and block traffic. It wouldn't matter even if it were a state owned institution (I'm not sure if it is or not), individuals have to abide by the rules of conduct set down by the administration. If they don't like them they can go to school elsewhere. This whole incident has less to do with the 1st amendment than it does children being raised to respect the lawful direction of civil authority.
