I am logged in, go to the post then hit the Edit/Delete button but can only seem to edit the post. What am I doing wrong?

if you go edit then choose "go advanced "

at the top of that page should be this

Thanks jack404. I select "edit" then "go advanced" but I do not get the deletion options. I have tried in Internet Explorer (that does show that the page loaded with an error) and Firefox, with the same results. Any thoughts (yes I could be stupid)?

I just went to one of mine and looked ('cause in the past I've wanted to delete a post or three). The delete option is not there for me, either.

What I've always ended up doing is erase everything and then put in a . 'cause this site won't let me leave it blank, but accepts a period.

Had the same problem - no delete choice in "advance" options.

After you click the Edit button, be sure to choose the "Go Advanced" button directly under the post you want to delete (directly above the Edit button). There's another "Go Advanced" button a little lower, under the Quick Reply box. If you choose that one, you will only get the advanced options for composing posts.

There is only one "go advanced" button. And clicking on it does not get to a place where I can delete.

I concur with @Alpo ... there is only one Go Advanced and it does not lead to delete option. Do you @SouthernMoss and @Jack404 have a greater "authority" so that our screen options might be different? BTW, I see @Alpo is using Firefox and I have had the same results with Explorer, Firefox and Safari for IPad.

You are able to edit a post only. If you want a post deleted, contact a Staff Member and we will delete the post. Moderators can do a "soft delete" for you and a Staff member can remove it later.
If you start a thread, you are able to delete your post as long as no one has responded, as I recall.

The reason I saw the second "Go Advanced" button is because I was deleting the last post in a thread and was seeing the Quick Reply box below my post.

My understanding of our software is that users can delete their own posts, although Shooter is right that if you have the first post in a thread, you cannot delete that post once someone has responded. I made a post in the Testing forum last night with the testing user and was able to delete it as the testing user. There may be a time delay or differences between various forums as to when you can delete your own posts. I'll check it out more thoroughly tonight.

Alpo, could you post a screen shot of what you see when you click the Go Advanced button?

Here you go. Sorry I had to make it so small, but I wanted to get it all on the screen.

OK, I had to go poking around in the back room, but here's what I found out. Users used to be able to delete their own posts, but we had some trouble with folks abusing the privilege, so we removed that permission from most of the forums. The permission still exists in the TFF Members Test Forum, which is where I posted and deleted using the testing user.

So the answer comes back to: ask a moderator or staff member to delete the post for you.
