I recently replaced my transmission with one I bought from a friend with only 6,000 miles since the rebuild. My old tranny will not enguage lock-up, so I pulled it and replaced it with this one and a new torque converter. All is going well with shifting and all, but I thought the rpm's seem a little high at highway speeds. When I have overdrive enguaged the truck sits about 2,300 rpm's at 65 mph. When I pulled a friends trailer today, I pulled it in 3rd and it ran about 2,800 rpm's at 65 mph. Well doing a gear ratio calculator it says I should be around 1,650+- at 65 mph in overdrive. I have 255 70 r15 tires and 3.08 gears, I will be taking a out of town trip at the end of the week in it and I don't want to run into any trouble along the way if I can help it. Thanks!

I can get the ruger for 200 dollars, but I don't know about another rifle, the marlin 60, which I hear is real accurate from my dad and other people on the Internet. His is an older one though. My dad also has a ruger 10/22 with a bull barrel, houge stock, bipod, and a scope that we were shooting the other day, but it shot high to the right. We used a variety of ammo but the accuracy was pretty much all the same. The one I would get has the standard barrel. I could get a synthetic or birch stock. I would rather have the synthetic stock because I hear wooden stocks will expand and contract and that will affect accuracy. Also I'm not too crazy about the plastic parts, but oh well. I would use my gun for shooting rabbits, squirells and such.

JUST got an M9 Beretta 9mm tonight. Love it. Great gun. Nice. BUT, I actually stood in the store for an hour debating between 92 and M9. The grips on 92 feel a little more solid in my hand thant he M9. I think it's because the area below the beaver tail is a little deeper on the M9. This was the one tradeoff but ultimately I went with the M9 because I figured the grips could be adapted and even as is they are not bad, just not as good.

My question: How can you adapt your grips on the back end of a beretta? (or can the grips be widened?)

I have a 22 cal. small frame top break hammer action 7 shot nickle plated revolver with 2 lines of words on the top side of the barrel that say U S Revolver Co. ( 1st line ) Made in U S A ( 2nd line ) with a serial number of 1988 stamped under the left grip and the bottom of the trigger guard ,there are only the numbers 1988 no letters before or after. I have read several forums but still can't find out the right answer . U S Revolver or Iver Johnson ? And by the serial number what year it was made, also all the Iver Johnson's revolvers I looked at have a owl head at the top of the grip, mine has a fancy design where the owls head should be , sort of like a" mushroom "with diamond shapes in the head and a fancy arrow in the stem of the "mushroom" , and a ships wheel around the screw, with a crown at the bottom flat of the grip. all the shapes I described are raised and the rest of the grip has a very fine diamond criss cross pattern , they are made of wood. I am interested in finding out the date, where to get a breakdown schematic and or parts if needed. thanks

Ok I have another one for you. hope you can understand my question. I plan to call Ram shot in the morning and see if I can find an answer.
Berry 124 grain.
Ram shot data from their website is Silhouette 124 BRY RN 5.1 1,001 5.8 1,133 34,986 1.160
The OAL listed is what I'm a bit confused over. My OAL on my CZ compact came out to 1.186 after the subtraction of the .015 from the push test. I know not to go past the SAMI of 1.169. I know that* most everyone loads 115gr and 124gr between 1.125 and 1.140. I had picked 1.135* for the length of my loads and I was going to work my loads around this setting and stick with it. I know if your OAL gets smaller then your pressure goes up. Would you use the 1.160 that they list as their max OAL or how far under would you go from their listed max? Should I start a charge as low as 4.5 grains and go up until I see the min fps of 1001? That way I would know the starting charge for my selected OAL of the 1.135
I seated a bullet at the 1.160 OAL that they list and it just looks to long
I plan on making a call tomorrow to see if someone can give me a starting charge at my selected OAL of 1.135
I hope you understood this last paragraph

I traded an older gentleman a fishing pole for an Iver Johnson break-top revolver, he told me it was a .38, but there is nothing on the gun itself to either confirm or deny said claim. I know the the first 2 "types" are black powder, and the 3rd one is smokeless powder, but I don't know what mine is.

Along the top of the barrel, it reads:
"Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass, USA
Pat'd APR 6, 86, FEB 15, 87, MAY 10, 87, DEC 26, 93. Pat's pending"

There's no other writing on the piece, except for what I assume is a serial number on the bottom of the grip, "13725".

You can definitely tell it's seen better days, with minor rust and peeling of the nickel plating. My questions are:
1: Am I correct in assuming its a .38?
2:How do I know wether it's black powder, or smokeless powder?
3:How much could it potentially be worth?
4:Is it a shooter, a collector, or a junker?

Your help would greatly appreciated, thanks.

Somewhere around 1990/91 I bought a high capacity kit (lower unit) from Para Ordnance for a what I was told at that time was for a Colt Combat Commander slide. At that time they were located in Canada and I do not believe that they manufactured a complete weapon. Anyway after it was put together it was put in a safe unfired for a number or years. I recently checked it out and the lugs seem to binding. I took it to a local gunsmith and he informed me that the Para was never meant to go with the Colt slide and that I was basically full of sh!t as to what I bought. Any insight would be appreciated.
