The name does not ring a bel but in the re-enacting world most have camop names with others who do not run with them really not knowing the real names. Is he a re-enactor or competition shooter?
IF looking at a repro, the Itialian, Japanese, ones made in canada, and custom made ones are good buys. IMHO stay away from ones made in Spain, India, or Pakistan. hope that helps.

Sorry I could not be of more help as to Steve Sciortino.

The name does not ring a bell BUT in our re-enatcing world most of us have a camp name with many never actually knowing their real name!!! Odd but that is the world of re-enacting.
One thing as to the Replicas, IF made by the Itialian companies or the older Japan opnes, then good guns. IF custome made or by the outfits out of Canada, usually really good guns. IF a Spanish, India, or Pakistan made copy; I would avoid it at all costs but that is just IMHO.
Does Steve Sciortino re-enatact or is he a competition shooter?

Sorry I could be of no help.

Hi Jim. I read in a post about a Tower flintlock rifle that you went to Friendship, IN. Did you know a fellow by the name of Steve Sciortino? He had a Tower as well. I read in your post that there were many replicas made. If you knew Steve, do you know anything about his?

Thanks, my wife LOVES opals. I really figured some one else had already PMed the answer being there are many History Buffs on TFF. Reason I know is I have the book "The Grey Ghost" and have read it a couple of times. I like to read about odder Rev War and Civil War figures being I have a degree in history with my main area of study being from 1750 to 1900. IF you like Mosby, read up on John Hunt Morgan. I had some family tat fought with him. He is anotehr character that thought outside the box so to speak when it come to warfare.
      Again thanks,
      JJ
