I really appreciate your knowledge! I haven't touched it until I heard from you. I will do exactly as you described. Thank you! I wish my grandfather was still around to see me shoot it. He loved that gun.

I always use a barrelband swivel attachment . Now that you have removed that end cap , you need to restake it , in the exact same position . The best way to insure this , is to reassemble the gun , turn the cap down to the action bar/forend with the action closed . Then back off half a turn , scribe alignment mark on the tube and the cap , remove the action tube and restake ! The proper way to install that type of swivel stud , is to unscrew the action tube from the gun , drill&tap , reinstall action tube . The action tube is much easier to remove , than that staked cap , plus you won't need readjust or restake the cap , which is very difficult with the action tube on the gun . It's been two weeks since you posted your message . So you may very well have learned what I have told you ! I love the 760s and really enjoy working on them , I hope things work out to your satisfaction .

Hello, you seem to be very knowledgeable on the 760 gamemaster. I inherited one from my grandfather and want to tap the action tube end bolt for a swivel. I don't want to put on a barrel band. I did mess up the cap a bit removing it...I didn't realize it was staked and there was no pin. Do you have any advice on how I should proceed to put the gun back together once I drill and tap the end cap? I appreciate your knowledge. Thank you. Kyle

I have a puma pps 22lr with a 50 round drum magazine new in the box.
Would you be interested in trading the winchester 490 for it?
