Red, I own: High Standard Sport King Model 103 with a 6" barrel; High Standard Sentinel MkIII 2" snubby .357 (Made by Dan Wesson for High Standard before he opened his own shop and sold the identical model 15) Bersa Thunder .380; Iver Johnson Compact 25; Taurus Model 66SS .357 6"; S&W M&P 9mm; Taurus PT1911; Winchester 94 .30-30; and my trusty old Mossberg 500 12 ga. with an 18 1/2" barrel and a pistol grip.

Some of the guns (the High Standards and the IJ) were bought simply because they interested me; some of them (the Bersa and the S&W) were bought beccause they are fine examples of form and function, flawless in use and easy to maintain; and some I bought just so I could blow big f*king holes in people if I was forced to. (the two Tauruses and the Mossberg).

And the Winchester I bought...because I've wanted an old lever-action saddle gun since I was a kid. Another gun I've wanted since I was a kid is an old M1 carbine, and I'm working on getting one right now.

      Gosh; I guess that I just ruined your "gun-grabbing lib'rul" rant, didn't I?

Do I think that "we" should all have the right to keep and bear arms? Nope. I believe that anyone with a history of mental illness should be refused until he/she can demonstrate that he/she has undergone sucessful treatment for the condition; but more importantly, I believe that anyone who has a history of felony assault, use of a weapon in the commission of a crime (I don't care if it's a handgun, baseball bat, or a brick) abrogates that right, just as they lose their right to vote, and should have to petition the courts to have that right reinstated, as they would to vote.

Otherwise, yes, all law-abiding citizens over the age of eighteen should have he right to keep and bear arms. I even support CCW...IF the person first demonstrates physical competency with the weapon AND is able to pass a test based on two books by Massad Ayoob: "In the Gravest Extreme" and "The Truth About Self-Protection". Does this infringe on anyone's rights? Nope. It's jus like requiring a driving test to get your license. If we require people to prove that they are not going to be a threat behind the wheel, there is nthing wrong with asking them to prove that they will not be a threat while carrying a loaded weapon. With rights comes responsibility--something that you guys so often ignore.

Oh, and BTW--since you're giving me the standard right-wing litmus tests, I am also a veteran, I'm an NRA member, and have been on and off since 1980, and I support the death penalty.

I'm your worst nightmare, red; an armed lib'rul...:)

      Aahhh, The standing brothers.
Hear the call of the eagle, listen to the voices of your ancestors in your blood.
The standing brothers speak of this if you learn to listen.
