      Thank you for the design details of the two nipples. I came to the same conclusion but never tried to chamfer the original OA nipples. Close observation clearly shows what you describe. Pushing the cap on an Old Army nipple does not seat it as it does on the Treso nipples. Especially true if you do this experiment with a #10 cap.

      The treso nipples have a 30 degree chamfer,the ruger old army has flat top the caps are not flat they have a chamfer inside ! so a bad fit chamfer old army nipples and you will see they will fire just as well as the treso nipples ! A ruger mistake with nipple design .
