I really like my SP101 but hated the plastic factory grip panels so I made my own out of some old South Texas Cedar (Juniper). I think they turned out pretty nice.

Good looking grips. Are those the original grips, and you just changed out the insert? And try a piece of that cedar, sanded smooth, with a little varnish on it. The red really pops with varnish. You might like the colors.

That wood looks good in there! Nice coloring and the pattern complements the shape pretty good too.

Looks kinda like some of the custom panels you used to be able to order from the Ruger Accessories catalog. I think those were checkered though. I don't like the plastic inserts on my SPs or early GP...but those three are running Hogue Monogrips anyways now so no big deal.

I've always wanted to do a set of panels for my 77/22's "billboard stock". It's got the same type of inserts on the grip and fore-end and it needs a splash of real wood too..

Well now, I'm guessing if you send a personal message to twobit that he'll be happy to make you a custom set of grips for your SP-101 for likely a very fair cost :)
