I just counted all the 22lr I have been able to buy over the last 2 years together. I used to keep a stock of about 1000 rounds. After I shot a brick I would buy a new one. Over the last 2 years I have been buying it when ever I see it at the store. Not a lot but one of whatever they have. I now have 7525 rounds in storage and another 5oo in my range kit.
I will keep doing this until I have 10,000 rounds. When this shortage 1st hit I was down to about 50 rounds. I may have become some what of a hoarder I don't know.
We couldn't get any for 6 months. I mean none. When I did start to see it once and a whale I bought some. I never counted it up until today. It is still very hard to find here. My plan now is to keep 10k in stock at any time and replace it as I use it.
At one time I was down to 50 rounds. I didn't take my 22's to the range for a long time due to no ammo. Never again.
I started with 4000..had to almost stop shooting as am down to under 1000..sigh, almost out of powder for the 45 too..better days are surly around the corner..least that what I have been repeating to my self since Bummer got elected......
I'm down to a little over 4K of .22, a little over 13 K in all calibers. My normal stock is about 10K of .22 and about 25K in all calibers. The last 2 years I have continued shooting, buying what I can. Between the prices and/or lack of availability I am low, about half-stocked in my opinion.
I have a little over 5000 rounds of mixed "plinking ammo" but have found it hard to find or keep the two types I like to shoot, CCI 40gr. Std. Vel. Target and Wolf Match Target. I am now down to less than 500 rounds of each but just can't find any of the Wolf.
I went into the "reelection/SH" ammo shortage with about 5,000 rounds on hand. I realized during the crunch that 5k of .22 is nowhere near enough when faced with it not being for sale everywhere, every day. I searched long and hard. A poster on another board clued me in to the "Cabelas shopping cart trick" and I now have a little over 20,000 rounds on hand. I won't go below 15,000 ever again. BTW, the Cabelas trick was found out and ended, so that's over But not before I got my hoard!
It may get better with a new Pres, but maybe not. The way it's going in the middle east we may be starting end times? If that's the case there is no telling how all this will end up? I do know a very nice fellow who has around 40M rounds of .22 LR in stock though.
right now I have around 3000 rounds on hand. I usually shoot about 1000 a month, but if I can't find any during the month I back off and shoot something else. try not to go below 2500 rounds. .22 magnum is what is really hard to find around here.
I just got back up 2 around 3k...a daughter n 6 nephews who LOVE to burn threw em is hard 2 keep up with! lol But if that's what it takes to keep building their enthusiasm and pass on my heritage 2 them, let every last 1 fly!!! Their future children will thank me
I have just a little south of 20K of the 22LR. 18K for the ARs and about 8K each for the AKs and 1911s. try to keep about 1K of each caliber for all the others more or less.
Like Carver said I won't dip into the "stash". If I can't find it I won't shoot it until I can. That being said, I haven't shot any of my 12k .22 LR rounds in around a year.
And no, I don't consider myself a "horder". It took me quite awhile to gather that much. It's not like I went out one day and bought it all at once, it's been accumulating for years.
A couple years ago I picked up a savage 6b on a whim for 50 bucks, took another 4 months to find any 22.
as of today I only have 1700 22lr and 300 22mag for the revolver.
I was late to the party
I keep 25K of .22LR. I have 15K of 556 and 15K of 9mm. I keep enough supplies at all times for over 10K rounds of 12 gauge. I am thinking currency for the New obama-world Order
I keep a useable supply of all my calibers on hand, always have, when the insanity hit I had approximately 30,000 rds on the shelf. A CMP order on file at the tiime added 5000. I have shared bricks with Boy Scouts and Hunter Safety during these dark days and certainly do not scour the isles looking for a $50 brick of Federal.
I still got 3 whole cases of CCI Blazer bought back when it was .99 cents a box before the shortage happened. The wife and I used to shoot almost every weekend and we spent part of our tax refund on it one year. We bought 5 cases and used 2 of them one summer. My friend who had the farm we shot at sold out and moved to Tennessee. We haven't really had anywhere to shoot since then, so it has been sitting around. I still pick up my two box limit every time that I am in the LGS, just because everyone said it is so hard to find. I just can't seem to find any .22 Mag though. I only got 200 rounds left for my Super Single Six and my Marlin .22 Mag.
