Winchester Model 43

A while back I purchased this Winchester Model 43 in .218 Bee, without doing a great deal of research on it. I have always wanted a .218 Bee, but wasn’t sure on what to look for, so I settled for this one. I think I made out okay for what I paid for it. It’s serial number is 23XX5A and is untapped with open sights. I recently found a replacement hood sight and put it back on the rifle. Does anybody know when it was manufactured and what it may be worth?

I have been looking at Lyman 57A peep sights for this, but have not found a lot of information on them. On the left rear of the barrel there are two taped screw holes, which match examples of other Model 43’s that I have seen. The Lyman sight looks like it uses these screw holes to secure the sight to the barrel, but I am not sure if they need to be enlarged. Does anyone know how these sights work? I don’t want to further devalue the rifle, but if it is simple bolt on sight, I may consider adding it.
