Here are some pics of my grandfathers Husqvarna .270 that I inherited. From what I can tell it was made in 56-57? I'm wondering what model it is? And, if anyone has one what ammo have you had the most success with accuracy wise? I'll use it for hunting so I would like a capable round with 1 minute or less accuracy if possible. Any other info on the rifle would be great. Notable facts of the rifle would be a hinged floor plate, cheek piece, butt plate, checkered pistol grip and fore end and you can manipulate the safety without the bolt being cocked.

No real ides of model, probably above "entry"grade with the (nice) stock. With the ammo it is hard to even guess , start with whatever grandpa was shooting. Otherwise pick a bullet weight or design and try it out at the range; rifles can have a "preference" for one load over another. I would likely start with a Nosler partition bullet, pick the weight according to the game you are hunting or from experience. Your question is as hard to answer as asking someone to pick your favorite color.

Buy a box or two of the cheaper ammo to get sighted in with and go from there. Have fun.

Just a good, solid, dependable Husky Mauser. Ammo...take your pick as each rifle is an entity unto itself. You cannot know until you run some down the barrel. My "go to " load for the 270 has been 54-56 grs. of IMR-4831 and a 130 or 140 gr. bullet, Hornady or Sierra with my preference running to the 140 gr. Sierra BTSP, Game King.

You appear to have a model 1740.

Repeterstudsareodel Modell 1740

Repeating Rifle, Model 1740

.270 Win/30/06 Spg/8x57JS/9,3x62, 5 round magazine

60 cm round barrel with fixed sights. Adjustable Mauser sights (up to 1000m) available.

Made from 1953 - 1967.

No engraving

Walnut or beechwood halfstock with "nose" (that would be a fore-end cap). Checkered flat bottom pistolgrip and forestock. Cheekrest.

Husqvarna 1640 action. Made for export.

That gun came in four versions. The 1640, with no cheekpiece. The 1740 with cheekpiece. The 1640K, which was a 1640 with no checkering and a sandblasted (as opposed to polished) action (the "cheap version", like a Remington 870 Express). And the 2100, which was the "sandblasted" "cheap version" of the 1740.
