I hope it's true. Then buy what you can afford and never get stuck low on 22 ammo again. At least a couple of bricks in reserve.I have shot a whole brick of 500 rounds with my brothers and friends in one afternoon with several pistols and rifles going for a couple of hours.
Yep todd, my gander Mt. here in Plattsburgh had the same add this morning. Heading into town this morning to pick some up. When my wife gets off work later she is going to pick up a brick too if any is left.
No one around here has any .22 LR, nor has had any for over 2 years, but I found some in Mesa, AZ this week at Sportsmans Warehouse. I had to buy a gift set of Rem Oil to get them, but the $32 set included 150 rounds of Remington Thunderbolt ammo. So I got 10 minutes worth of ammo, but a lifetime supply of oil...
Dick's Sporting Goods has that same offer here as well, but I declined buying Thunderbolts. But if that's all you can get, it is better than having none.
Went over to the Gander by me this evening after reading your post, and picked up (5) 50 rd boxes of the CCI std vel. They only had three bricks left, so I made it just in time. I got (5) boxes from Gander back in May, but this is the first I have seen since then.
On Sunday Dick's had an add in for Federal 36gr, limit of two 50 rd boxes. I went around to all three stores (Sawmill, Easton Town Center, and Hilliard Rome), and got two boxes from each store. Then in the evening I took my wife along and went back to the Sawmill store and got four more.
The cashier at Gander on Reener Rd. told me that they will be getting some more in on Saturday. Maybe .22lr is starting to come back.
I too drove over and got 5 boxes of the CCI Std. Vel. I heard the clerk say they may set some more out tomorrow morning but he advised the fellow to get there early like 9:00 AM. There must have been close to twenty bricks on the shelf when I was there at around 2:00 AM today. Glad you got some. There were none of Rem. on the shelf.
Is 22LR still this hard to find, Rawright54? I'm only looking for bullets for reloading centerfire.... like for my 45acp, 30-30, 30-06 and 7.62x39 cases.
I happened to be going to Cabelas to pick up a 100 round box of CCI standard velocity I ordered. Got there right after they opened and checked out the ammo. There were about 40 boxes of 50 round CCI standard velocity and 25 boxes of 100 CCI Mini Mags. Grabbed a box of those, picked up my order and walked out with 200 rounds.
Cabelas ship to store is the only place I have been able to find 22 ammo reliably.
We have been kinda lucky here at Plattsburgh's gander Mt., it seems about every other month they get a big shipment in similar to what Todd posted. Bricks have always been around the $25.00. Between me and my wife we were able to get 3 bricks.
In our area you have to just get lucky! Few come in and always go right back out. Folks check all locations early each morning and they are all gone way before noon, and that's with limits applied! I haven't been able to get any, but fortunately still have an adequate reserve.
