Yep - Need a Scope

Made a lot of holes with iron sights at 100yds today.
1 -- is .308 diameter rounds factory Herters
The .308 diameter bullets really were all over coming out of my slugged 313.5 barrel
2-7 is reloads at different grains and a couple targets the same grains but with once fired brass.
There is an info-gram above the target as to bullet grain, powder, oal.
The fuzziness of the front sight let me know I want a scope sooner than later.
Not exactly what all I got out of this other than just plain fun.
My son came over today, he wears contacts and says he sees the front post crystal sharp.
I need to get him down to the range.
By the time he can find time from work, I'll have the scope.

I had one round that did not fire. Let it sit awhile looking at the target, then tried to fire it again.
I'll take it apart an see what I can find. Looks like it should of gone bang. I did the primers one at a time in a single stage press and looked at each one.

The target order shot is 1 thru 7 using 1934 Mosin Nagant Hex head.

It looks like the .311" bullets with 37 gr loading is your best bet. Nice shooting for 100 yards and iron sights. Once upon a time I could fire shotgun shells from 100 yards with a .22 and iron sights, but that was a very long time ago...:(

Thanks GD. My brother in law is older than me and he hunts and still has his eyes. He really likes turkey. I asked how do you shoot a turkey without destroying the meat. He said you just shoot their head off. If that was me out there, that turkey would be waving that sheet going oley! Ya-hah, borro, ya-haaah as my bullets zinged by.

GD is a tiny bit older and taller than me, and much better looking. But thanks for the mistake; I respect the man a lot, and being mistaken for him is a compliment.:)

If I was to hunt turkey - unlikely, as it costs less to buy one than to hunt one - I'd go for a shotgun with a full choke and a head shot, or use the sword I got for earning my 2nd Dan blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do. The trick to that is to be stealthy enough to get in range. I'm still working on that part. When I get good enough to sneak up on a coyote and swing her around my head by two teats, I figure I'll be skilled enough to hunt turkey with a sword.

Until then, I'll buy Butterball birds and watch for the little pecker to pop up.;)

My bad. Sorry about that. I was reading some of his post prior and it stuck (only so many brain cells left these days and they got channel locked so to speak).

He uses a shotgun as well. I forget the config, choke or slug. He has been benched for a bit as he had his whole knee replaced and they screwed up and he had to go in again for the same knee. He is rehabbing now but it is going slow for him.
