I was thinking around the $50/$60 max. dollar range that isn't embarrassing to own. Also,I had a cheap large scope on my 10/22 that I shot when it was raining but just a fine drizzle and water drops got inside and it never would dry out.Maybe even water proof too.Any suggestions that you had good luck with, I just might buy it on-line somewhere.

I don't know if you can get one for $60 but Bushnell Trophy series scopes are good scopes. I have Burris, Leopold, and several other name brand scopes bought over the last 25+ years and the Trophy's hold their own.

NO scope should leak water. Good scopes are dry Nitrogen pressurized and if they will keep the nitrogen in they most certainly will keep water out.

Cheap is cheap. I had a couple cheap scopes years ago and the recoil from a mild recoiling rifles broke the cross hairs (On most scopes they are wire strung tightly across a frame in the focus point of there rear lens system).

NO rifle today cost much less than $150 and that is the going price for a medium priced scope from Bushnell or Nikon or many others. I have several Bushnell Trophy series scope and I recommend them. A $60 scope is not a good investment at all and a waste of good money. Save for a better scope like the Bushnell Trophy.

I have a couple .22Mag scopes, and they work fine for the rimfires.
For my better rimfires, I like the Bushnell 4-12X40AO scope - it goes for about $90 now. I have five of them on various rimfire rifles.

My Marlin 795 has had a $15 Barska 3-7x20 from Amazon since I got it ~3 years ago just to have a cheap scope on with intentions of getting a better one when I had the money. I zeroed it then and it hasn't moved so I saw no need to replace it. My bolt action has a $25 NCStar 3-9x40. Held zero for about a year and then when shooting with a group of friends when a friend of a friend knocked my rifle off the table landing on the rim of the front of the scope. It moved but after zeroing again it has stuck. Been about 1.5 years.

You just missed the $30 rebate on the Simmons 22 mag 3x9 AO scope with target turrets. It has nice thin crosshairs and the AO goes way down to 10yds too. That made the scope $30 shipped from Optics Planet. No limit either. I picked up two. I have Leupold, Bushnell Elite, Sightron etc on most of my guns. I think this is a great little rimfire scope for under $100.

Watch the manufacturer rebates and you can really get some great deals.

I vote for the Leopold rimfire scope if they still offer it. I have one on a Marlin 39A Mountie and it seems very nice. You get what you pay for sometimes but the big L always produces a top notch product.... That being said, I've had a $15 3-6x scope on my old Mossberg bolt .22(42M?) for 47 yrs and it's still just fine, more than fine actually. That gun and scope made me a squirrel sniping terror of the forest as a youngster, I can tell you.

I like cruising forums & gun shows for older, yet fine quality used scopes.
I have many old Weaver scopes from the 30's through the 70's that only cost me $10 to $40 each.
Two of those are some old KV's from the late 40's to early 50's that are quite clear.
The Chinese junk from Wal-Mart is just junk & MAY hold up or it may not.

Being a cheapskate myself...learned a few things over the years.

TASCO sux. I have yet to own one that has held zero.
Went from using them as trade bait to just throwing them away...
hate to pass on that level of crappiness.
30 years of firearms purchases...and they always fail.

CenterPoint. Useful. Have one singular headache known as Locking Adjusters...
as long as you remember to Unlock, then Adjust, then Lock, you are fine.
If you EVER forget, you break the plastic adjusters and it will never hold zero until repaired.
It then must be sent back to the factory for a $20 repair, where they pull it apart
& replace the adjusters.
Why do you pay? Because its yer own dang fault, Probie! *Gibbs-smack*
I've got two currently, for over five years, no issues thusfar.
Much love for the lighted red/green reticle...usually set on Green, less fuzz-out.

Leupold. L is Love that comes with a pricetag :)

Nikon. Even better love...but prices are high. One rests on my 922M...Yummy!

Bushnell/Simmons/Redhead can be hit or miss, mostly hit. Just don't drop 'em.
Dang sure don't buy 'em USED unless you can try before you buy, or a great return policy.
Must admit to great love for my Simmons Black Diamond!! But it ain't no Nikon...

I had an old Tasco scope on my .22 rifle a number of years ago. It seemed to hold it's zero good but, every time I went to the range and shoot, I always left with a mild headache. So one day I decided to go to the range. It was a hot day. Took the gun to shoot, looked through the scope and the glass was all fogged up! Took a cloth to wipe it and would not come off. It was on the inside part of the glass. Much like a cheap watch that gets fogged up under the crystal.

Got rid of it and bought a Nikon Prostaff. Much clearer glass that eliminated a problem.........no more headaches!!

I found a BSA scope at a local cowboy,feed/gun store called Cal-Ranch for $79.00 a little more than I wanted to spend. It's water and shock proof and seems to be a quality scope.I just put it on a new gun purchase a Ruger American 22 magnum with the 9 shot rotary magazine.I haven't shot I yet but I will soon. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have several BSA scopes. I have that Sweet .223 on one of my AR's. I have a Sweet .22 on one of my 10/22 Rifles. If you have different "turrets"for different weight bullets on that scope, you might want to put the lowest one on it before you zero your scope. I don't know how the "ballistic changing turrets" on the .223 scope will work with a .22 magnum rifle.

Nice looking rifle from what I can see! I have the Ruger American in .308.

I have a Cabela's branded 4x rimfire scope that sells for $49.95.

It's been mounted on a H&R Sportster for 5 years now,,,
It zeroed very easily and hasn't drifted at all.

The glass seems clear enough,,,
I do have a Leupold on another rifle,,,
The Leupold glass in not any clearer than the $49.00 scope.

Just another suggestion to look at.
