I have a B.S.A., Birmingham Small Arms Co. Ltd., with a Martini Lever Action, chambered in .22 Super Jet caliber, and a Weaver K/O 60 B Scope. I believe the serial no. is 58158.
The left side of the receiver is marked:
MADE BY THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. LTD.
TRADE (3-standing rifles) MARKS
B.S.A.
The right side of the receiver is marked:
58158 (top right)
COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA
What I believe is non-factory marks between the two factory marks is:
N.S.W. (New South Wales ?)
23.472 (possibly the date, 23rd April 1972 ?)
Barrel is marked: .22 SUPER JET
Any information on rifle is appreciated.
Thank you,
Dave

You have a well done custom target/varmint rifle.
There is nothing really left over from the original configuration. Most every thing other than the action has been customized , which results in that the rifle has no real collector's value.
But please don't despair . The rifle in it's self has a lot of value as a shooter.

One of the outstanding things about this action is that it has a super fast lock time , making it ideal for targets and varmints.
Also, for it's age and configuration it is really quite a strong action.( please note, I said for its AGE )

I have a similar rifle chambered in 6x47R and its far more accurate than I am.

It was a Martini Cadet rifle. The original caliber was 310 Cadet. It has long been obsolete so many were rebarreled or rechambered. 22 super jet may be just as hard to find. Many were rechambered to 32-20. Check ebay and ********* for a different barrel in a caliber you may still be able to find.

Mikebiker is quite correct in the original caliber of 310 cadet. After the 310 cadet cartridge became obsolete , the BSA co. started to produce the 22 rimfire version on the Martini action .There are several versions of this action. Mine is a model 15 ,I think.

If its possible , can you take the forend off the rifle and see if there is a barrel makers name? Many of the 22 rimfire martinis have Jessop barrels. A Jessop barrel is an exeptionaly high quality barrel. It was very common at one time to rechamber these barrels and convert to center fire.

Your barrel has the "classic " 11 degree target crown.

That's about all I can say by looking at your pics.
If you can find some ammo, go out and have fun. These are great rifles to own and shoot.

Gary

Note . as with any rifle , please have it checked by a gunsmith before shooting.
