standard arms model G , .35 cal

this rife has a crack in the plate that slides back and forth with the bolt .is that a comon problem with these guns? also in the brake down, have been unable to activate . is there a secret to getting that to work?. thanks shirley

#1-have a standard arms model G auto/ pump rifle. the plate that travels back and forth with the bolt is cracked . is that a common problem with this rifle and can it be repaired . #2-can not seem to activate the brake down sequence . is there a secret to that . can push in but it does not release.any answers will be a great help. thanks shirley

The Standard never made it into big time because of all of it's various problems. One problem , the black powder cartridges that was still in wide use at the time did not work well in semi auto guns. hence the ability to over come a fouled gun with the pump action. Didn't help, still jammed. The M model was pump only but alas, it failed on the market also. Even the gun books refer to the Standard as being known as "Jam a Matics ". With out pictures of the failed part, I don't any of the gun smiths on the fourm can give you a definite answer on whether or not it can be repaired. Sorry about that

RJay, thanks so much for the info.its a really pretty gun . would not want to shoot it but thought about selling it. i have a web site for parts so check that out monday.you say the pump action is just as bad . if thats the case it will make a good wall hanger .
