finally got back to this post. one of the guys found one at a gun store used but in good shape and bought it. the other hasnt had the luck. now i need to say thanks to bumblebee for responding with a rifle but it was in florida and these guys wont buy sight unseen, especially if not NEW. the added cost of shipping, FFL cost and just the risk of getting not what was described just isnt worth it to them. i have bought several firearms and had shipped to my FFL and i knew the risk and the cost upfront.

In this world of really popular AR's, the lever has taken a backseat.
So you actually have to Order one in...most folks just don't stock them.

To be honest, I prefer the pre-1994's...just a better feel :)
Plus, there's a lot to be said for a good used rifle, action tends to have already been smoothed out!

I have a near perfect 39A mountie. A few years back I put a nice Leupold scope on it. I rarely shoot it because I have a Win 62A and a Savage Mod29, both nice light pumps that are a joy to shoot and I recently got a gorgeous vintage Marlin 92 levergun that is absolutely the perfect .22. I was thinking I should just sell the 39A; then I took it out on my moose hunt and was punching paper with it....easily shooting into an inch at 50yds and I just can't bring myself to sell it. I'm sure with a better rest it would shoot into a single hole at 50yds. They just shoot too damned straight, and it seems effortless.
