For me it would clearly be the SR40. I Simply do not like the way Glocks feel in my hands. My wife has a SR9 (1st gen black stainless) and I enjoy shooting it and I shoot it much better than her Glocks. Don't care for the sights on either. Not sure about the trigger on the newer SR40, but the older SR9s need a bit of trigger work IMO.
Although not a hard requirement, I prefer USA made guns, even more so when they are made just up the street in Prescott, AZ.
Really comes down to what feels best and what you shoot best.
The easiest answer is, get both!
I have the Glock 26 & a G-30SF. Both have been flawless & I shoot them as well as I can shoot. If it was a revolver, I'd buy the Ruger!
I've been carrying the Glock 27 for several years. I have NEVER had a malfunction of any type, the gun will run any ammunition I feed it, and it is extremely accurate. Also, it is simple to disassemble and reassemble. The finish is durable, and since it's already "ugly" I don't mind that it shows a little wear. This is NOT one of my safe queens. It gets carried all the time.
The Glock is not really a "shooter's" gun. The trigger is not comparable to most pistols aren't striker fired. It IS, however, a fabulous combat or defense gun.
If you're primary goal is everyday carry, and you don't care that people think your gun is ugly, the Glock is a great choice.
No question that Glock has a great reputation and lots of aftermarket support. Still, I think the Ruger fits my hands better and is priced about $100 less then a Glock.
Have you looked at the SR40c, the compact model that Ruger offers? It's a pretty nice pistol.
It all boils down to what you feel comfortable and confident with. Both will serve you well.
The Ruger it's not even a consideration. Glocks are dependable, affordable, and downright ubiquitous. And, I just don't like them. Rugers are great guns from a fine company. Either are likely to work well for you.

Ford, Chevrolet, or Dodge? Your choice will be similar. I can't fault anyone for which pistol they choose because I hope they chose it because they liked that one more than the others. I have shot both of your choices and the only minor item I have with the Glock is the bulged cases and that is only because I reload almost everything I shoot. Don't reload then not an item. I have found the Glock to be the easiest to shoot well pistol I ever picked up. The trigger on the Ruger leaves room for a little improvement but if you like it go with it.
I know you didn't ask but I would choose the Smith M&P over both of your pistols but again that is just personal.
