Is there a gun that you always end up carrying?

You may have a dozen or more different handguns. Different calibers. Revolver and Semi Auto. New guns. Old guns. Used guns. Some guns that some people tell you are "outdated"
But there is always one gun, that you've had for many years, that you always end up carrying at least 75% of the time because it's the one you naturally like and do well with. (even in spite of what other's may bell you about the make or model).

For me, it's a 1961 Colt Offical Police .38 Special with a 4 inch barrel. (that I recently added a plastic Pachmyer grip adapter to). I've been carrying this gun for 10 years now. I have other guns that I carry and like. But this one is in my holster at least 75% of the time. It just feels the most natural and I handle it well. (and NO, I am not an old man)

What is your most common gun? Why?

A Norinco 1911A1. I've had it for almost 30 years.

Up until I retired in '93 it was always my Ithaca '11A1. I'm 6'3" and 205-215 (depending on winter blubber), so concealing the .45 was never an issue, whether tucked into my waist band or holstered under a sports jacket. Carried that pistol for 30+ years. About '73 or there abouts I added a Smith Centennial five shooter - right hand pants pocket or jacket side pocket. These days it's an early series Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt, open carried on hikes, berry picking expeditions with my better half, or come spring when the bears are stirring and I'm walking up the hill to our mailbox on the main road.

I carry a sw442 w/ 38+p since it's easier to manage with the clothing I wear. The bed gun is a 40cal. Massad Ayoob said the minimum caliber that will break the pelvis is 38+p. Most outside encounters are within a few feet and a 38+p should suffice if you ascribe to the various articles about caliber vs effectiveness at close range. But there are those that go against the grain when hit by some pretty stiff calibers: http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20...otings-allegedly-told-police-he-wanted-to-die- This guy was shot in the head by possibly either a 9mm or 40 cal since that is what is used locally by various leo's (county deputy and city police).

Being small, mines a S&W 9mm, 4". I've loved it since it was released. Now, I'm getting to dislike it. The trigger pull is getting to be to much. It's way difficult to pull the first shot off in a slow fashion. I will never buy another handgun with no visible hammer.

Either a full size 1911 or a commander size 1911. Always carry a 1911 year round.

Open carry, Glock 21 in .45. Ugly, but functional. It says "Hey, you! *********! Don't try that jihad crap here!

When I carry concealed, an A.M.T. Backup in .45 caliber. 6 rounds of .45 ACP. and it fits in my back pocket like a heavy wallet. The trigger pull is so horrendous that if anyone stole it, they'd spend a day looking for a concealed safety. But I can shoot her just fine.

No, I can't pick just one. Mine are all my favorite. Dad always said "variety is the spice of life" but I don't believe it is original to him....I guess I like a lot of spice.

My go to carry gun is my Ruger 1911 CMD. I carry others but always feel the most comfortable with the 1911. Probably because I shoot 1911's 10X more than any of my other guns and that's what what i've gotten good with.

Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter the Ruger 1911 is on my side. 6'2'' and 220#. It isn't hard to conceal it at all. Proper belt and holster makes heavy guns disapear too.

For me its situational...Florida means being smart about carry...as the clothing is usually sparse ;)
However, with Thunderwear, you can hide dang near anything...just make sure the cargo shorts are baggy ;)
