I just received this Colt Bisley from my grandmother. Do not know much about it other than it was her fathers.
It has stamped on the barrel Colt (bisley) 38 w.c.f. Serial numbers match on the barrel and trigger guard with 300966. I have looked at a lot of these on line trying to figure out just what model it is. All that I look at have an extractor tube attached to the barrel. This gun doesn't have the extractor tube. As far as I can tell it has not been removed. Is there someone out there that knows about these that could give me some insight. I can take more pics if needed.

Does not appear to have a front sight, either. Although that full-length picture is so out-of-focus there might be one.

You said the numbers on the barrel and trigger guard match. What about the one on the bottom of the grip?

As to model - far as I know, there is only one - the Bisley Colt. 300966 was made in 1907, by the SN charts. And they all had ejector rods and shrouds.

Couple of thoughts as to the missing shroud.

How long is the barrel? If it has been cut down to four inches or less, that would explain both the missing front sight and the missing shroud.

The shroud is screwed to the barrel. It could have been unscrewed, for some reason, lost over time, and you did not notice the screw-hole. Or the screw might have broken off, which would make the shroud fall off, and with the broken off screw-stub still in the hole, there is no hole to notice.

Photo 3 shows the lug on right front side of frame is there, which should have a recess for end of the ejector tube and a smaller hole for the rod to extend through to eject shells.
Ask your grandmother if the missing housing might be around as gun looks in original condition except for that (if barrel not cut).

Here's what a Bisley with it ejector looks like, altho with longer barrel. As hrf says you bottom picture shows the frame swell where the ejector would be & it should have a screw hole out near the muzzle at about the 4 o'clock position seen by shooter. Comparing your pix & mine, it looks like it was cut off short and cutter eliminated ability to reinstall the ejector.
