My thumlers tumbler has sprang a leak. Started to clean a batch of brass this morning and got everything loaded and the tumbler rolling. Came back about an hour later and there was water everywhere. After checking to make sure the top was on correctly I emptied it and pulled out the rubber boot (not an easy task). There is a cut across one side of the bottom that looks like it was done with a razor blade. It's not in a seam or weld joint it's in a flat area of the bottom. I can only think it was done at the factory. The tumbler is two years old so I doubt there is anything the factory will do so I'm out about $60 to buy a new one.
I just checked the Thumbler's site and they say the boot has a five warranty so I sent them an email asking what I need to do to get a replacement. I'll be surprised and pleased if they do replace it with out charge.
The boot is heavy rubber maybe 1/4 - 3/8" thick and it would take a pretty sharp object to make that kind of cut. Also the cut is in a straight line like it was sliced. I've never had anything sharp inside so can't imagine how it could happen though use.
I tried taking a picture but the cut is small and the boot is black and noting can be seen.
I have one of these that I've had 30+ years, and the only problems it has ever had is wearing out the drive belts about every 6-7 years. Just replace it with a rubber O ring of the right size and continue tumbling.
Don't know what I was thinking, but I use to repair bicycle tires and inner tubes all the time. So I bought myself a tube repair kit from the parts store and I'm back in business for $3.
Your title cracks me up. Everybody has been there. I see that in the banner and "KNOW" that feeling!!!
