Fast burning powder for loading snubbie pistols or small autos?

I just wondered if it is best to load a fast burning powder like Red-dot or Bulls-eye if you intend to use the ammo in a short barreled snubbie or short barreled auto?

How about the choice of bullet weights? Is it better to load a heavier weight bullet than would be best for a longer barreled gun, for example?

I suppose the objective here would be to try to make sure the powder in your chosen load is completely burned to obtain maximum velocity from short barreled guns.

I like the fast burning powders, and load AA #2, and AA #5 for .44 spcl. and .45ACP. I use only 240 gr, and 230 gr. bullets, respectively. Barrel lengths vary form 2" to 5".

I use only W231 for my packing load in my Walther ppk 380 behind a 88 gr. jhp. never a problem. Red Dot in my fmj loads. For the Walther you must load to or near max for them to cycle properly. Check loading manual for loads for your firearm.

NO. The powder that produces the highest velocity in a six inch barrel will produce the highest velocity in a 1.5 inch barrel—that's just the way it works. A fast powder will never produce the velocity that a slow powder will at a given pressure.
