Shotgun identification

Hello,
I recently came across a photo of my dad when he was a youngster in So. Oklahoma. I estimate his age at about 10 years old, that would date the photo around 1925. He lived near the Wichita Forest Reserve so he had a pretty nice backyard to hike and hunt and fish. Does anyone recognize the shotgun model in the photo? It looks like the stock was cut down to accommodate his 10 year old arms.
Thanks,
GB

The hammers and the shape of the pistol grip look like an 1899 Remington. While lots of people used that style of grip, I think the hammers were only Remington's.

Thanks for your response guys. Granted, it's hard to tell from the old photo what make of shotgun my dad has in his hand. Like Alpo says, the best clue is probably the shape of the hammers. Since he pointed that out, I've spent a number hours on the internet looking at hammer sets from that time period. The Remington hammers seem to be a perfect match. You're right joe45c that was a huge bunny. I thought it was a kangaroo when I first saw the photo. Here's another photo from about the same time with his brother.
Thanks again,
GB

Peee-u! I can smell that second picture from here. :D That's a lot of skunk hanging there.

As for the double-barrel in the first picture. I think the others have it pegged as a Remington 1899. I'm not sure the stock has been cut down though. It sort of looks like the rest of the stock is hiding behind a rock.
Those are some big jacks he's holding too. I'm guessing that was supper.

Welcome to TFF!

Good point, Binder. In the bottom pic, you can see the gunstock is full size, and the pistol grip is even with his knees. In the top pic, that stock's grip is also even with his knees, and the boy ain't got no feet.

I believe the rest of the stock, like his feet, is out of frame.
