I got my dads WWII Colt 45 Model 1917 revolver and it got stolen. Is there anyone out there that might know where it is? It was auctioned off from US Pawn in Winter Springs, FL September 2012 (Just found this out after all the searching I have done). It is serial number 157950. I promised my dad on his death bed that this gun would always stay in the family. PLEASE help me locate this gun. I will pay whatever it sold for with appropriate paperwork. I am heart sick over this gun being gone.
if it was auctioned from a pawn shop then they have a transfer record. It was either sold to a non ffl on a 4473 and picked up, or transfered to another ffl, where it was then transfered to a non ffl.
somewhere, someone has a 4473 where it went to a non ffl. from there, depending on what state it is. the trail MIGHT dissapear there if the state allows private sales ..
It was sold to a FFL dealer and shipped out of state. And the pawn shop won't give me that information. I have tried and tried and they won't help me out at all.
well, if it's stolen.. then you file a police report, and let law enforcement use their trace data capability to track it thru FFL records. That was my point.
The problem is my youngest son stole it.....and sold it to the pawn shop. Any other suggestions as I don't want to put him in jail with four kids to raise. I don't know if I will EVER speak to him again though!!!!!!
i agree.. it's either stolen or it's not stolen. if it's stolen.. you might be able to get it traced. if it's not stolen.. don't plan on it magically comming back
You said your youngest son. That means you have more. Get the kids to pressure him. Try to bluff the pawn shop. Tell them you will drop a dime on the ATF. They don't want to lose their FFL so they may do something.
You got no pressure on the pawn shop. I done been through this. My ex-wife stole my daughter's gun and her boyfriend pawned it. We had two choices - put Mama in jail, and then we get the gun back as "recovered stolen property", or buy it back from the pawn shop.
If the man does not want to have his kid arrested for theft, he has no power. The pawn shop has no legal reason to give him any information - any more than any other business has a reason to give some guy in off the street info about a customer. AND, the pawnbroker realizes that IF the gun is recovered as stolen property, the guy he sold it to will want his money back, so the pawnbroker will lose on the deal.
Thieves belong in jail, it doesn't matter if they are related to you, or not. Get the police involved if you want your gun back. Other wise, kiss that pistol good by! And by the way, if your son will steal from you, he'll steal from me. If I catch him at it, ............. Well, lets just say that jail would be much more preferable for both of you!
