There were a few less old guys today, but it was still a great day. Todd51 and I took a few hours to go have some fun in the hills on what could be one of the last remaining nice days this fall. Todd brought a couple toys, but mostly this was my trip.
I recently picked up a couple updates to my Armalite AR that I was itching to try out. First was the Vortex VMX-3T, a 3 power magnifier to sit behind my EO-Tech 512 Holographic Sight. It makes a huge difference for longer ranges, and doesn't distort the sight. The only distortion is from my astigmatism. After a couple of sight adjustments it was hitting fine at 100 yards. I also picked up a good deal for a MilSpec Buffer Tube, Heavy Buffer, and a Magpul ACS 6-Postion Stock. There was a Magpul CTR Commercial Stock on it, but I wanted the slightly elevated cheek weld and the storage compartments. Everything functioned flawlessly, and I couldn't be happier.
I've always enjoyed Smith & Wesson's products, then Todd introduce me to his M&P 9mm Pro, and I was hooked. So much so that I ended up with that same Pro, a 9mm Shield, and a M&P 9c. I guess you could say I'm prejudiced. Many rounds, no issues with their function. Toss in a Ruger LCR-22, and you couldn't ask for much more.
Todd was as accurate as usual with his 5" M&P 9mm Pro, and a Ruger MkIII. The effect of lead hitting the steel targets, and hearing that gong sound , you just gotta love it! As usual, Todd goes for the 80 yard tombstone target, with the M&P Pro, and nails it. As is often the case, it's all for naught without pictures, so please see below!
I don't make the trip as often as I would like, but a day at Todd's place is always a pleasure. I feel privileged to be part of the group, and can't wait for my next opportunity..
