Mine is the Ruger GP100. The reason is that the Ruger quality is great and shooting this gun is as smooth as can be. Even my eighteen year old grandson loves this gun.
I like my S&W Model 10 4" for the simple reason that it's the only revolver I've ever owned. I've had it about 40 years now, and it's never failed me. Absolute reliability plus zero maintenance is a combination I admire in a machine.
I have several guns and treat them each with great respect as long as theydo what they are made for. On the CC, I prefer a Colt new agent 45 acp and on the wheel gun I prefer a S&W 42 but I carry a kel-tec 380 in my pocket all the time even if I open carry something else at the same time. I have 4 Charter Arms, an old model 44 airwieght target, a Charter under cover 38 and a Charter off duty 38. I have probably fired 200 rounds through the 44 with no misfires and the other two no so many rounds through them but no misfires. I must have some of the better Charter Arms, but I didn't find them at a flee market or a dumpter either.
When all fails..I have an old saying, if your lifes worth saving..carry a Raven.
My Colt Single Action Army, 45 LC, 4 3/4" barrel, black powder frame, bulls eye ejector, factory Ivory grips. I can hit targets with my eyes closed! Cylinder timed and mainspring trimmed by Bob James in AZ
I bought an older Charter Arms 5 shot .38 spcl. It went bang when I pulled the trigger. Gave it to my Dad. Bought a new lightweight Charter Arms, called the Panther. So far it has gone bang every time I pulled the trigger. It too is a 5 shot .38 spcl. They had a 5 shot 44 spcl, but it was slightly bigger than I wanted. Plus, another caliber to buy.
Can't answer for Swifty, but the recoil with the short barrel .44 special can be a bunch when shooting + P ammo. Standard ammo for the .44 doesn't have all that much recoil. These pistols are accurate, and come in SS, and blued, as Swifty's is. They also come in SA/DA, and DAO. The real problem with this caliber is that ammo is scarce right now. Cowboy loads can be found in stores sometimes, but is readily available on line just about any where. SD ammo is really hard to find!
My S and W 586 with a 61/4 inch barrel. It has the finest trigger right out of the box of any gun I have ever owned. And that includes guns that have had custom work done to them. I put a set of Pachmayr grips on it even before I shot it the first time. I don't hate S and W grips but lets just say I dis-like them. They don't fit my hand the way I like.
To shoot I like my 4" 686. To carry, my Model 60. Sentimentally? My Ruger Single Six, the first handgun I ever owned, bought it at Best Products (remember when department stores sold guns??) almost 40 years ago and still have it, still shoot it.
A Smith Model 18-4. It digests everything from birdshot and BB/CB caps to HVHP rounds, is about as complex as a beer mug, and the K frame grip fits my relatively small (for someone who's 6'3") paw perfectly. First runner up would be a Webley MkVI .45, primarilly because it's a big-a$$ honkin' monster and a hoot to shoot.
The Webley lives in the safe alongside a 38/200 Enfield No2 Mk1**. A while back while up in Juneau my better half purchased what was probably the only box of Remington .38 S&W shipped to Alaska last year, but I've yet to take it to the range.
Well,my tastes in guns changes over time but I really like 22 revolvers. My favorite hard hitting round is 9mm because I reload it and it's availability/cost.Here's my best quality revolver I suppose!
My Ruger SP-101.For the same cost it could be in 357/38 but I chose to get the 22lr 8-shot version.
It brings a tear to my eye to even show this picture. This has to be my favorite revolver I have ever owned but sadly and maybe in a moment of madness I sold it to a good friend this past year. It is an N framed Smith and Wesson 25-5 .45 Colt factory nickle. Why a favorite ? It shoots big bullets and is knock down gorgeous.
My Bulldog was in .38 Spl., with 3" barrel (detective special). The LCP is thinner and I can carry it in my pocket. I bought a leather kit and sewed a "wallet holster" that encloses the pistol and extra mag. I can put it any pocket just like a wallet. I can pull it out of my back pocket, in public, and you cannot tell it holds a pistol.
The only downside of the LCP is the grip. You have to really have a hold on it or it will jump out of your hands.
Yeah, I get it, the .380 is about the same as a .38, not a lot of difference there, plus you get a couple of extra rounds. You just need to shoot that LCP! I have one, and I have no problem with the recoil. The wife thinks it's to much recoil, she likes .22's!
I DON'T OWN ONE BUT I GREATLY ADMIRE A REVOLVER CALLED the S&W model-10 in the 4 inch version.Since we are on the subject. There's just something about it I like.
Mine is my old S&W K38 Masterpiece 14-3. Just a plan good shooter. Fits well to my hand. Wish S&W would bring the K frame back!
