Help to identify Browning pistol

I have a Browning that I can't identify. The serial number contains a U as in xxxxUxx. I understand U indicates a Challenger but it doesn't look like any of the Challengers I have seen. It says Made in Belgium on the right side and Browning Arms Company on the right. Two dealers have told me it was an International Medalist made in 1969. I am not sure they are correct. Can anyone help?
It has a vented barrel with 4 vents, a gold trigger and an adjustable rear sight. It also has a mark under the barrel, the frame and the slide. Underneath the barrel are the words Browning Patent. Overall length is approximately 9 inches.

Thank you for any help

According to Browning, the only model that uses a U as part of the serial number is the Challenger, but the pattern xxxxUxx is backwards from the proper serial number format. The Browning site at http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?bg=x&id=30 provides more detail, but the Challenger serial number begins with a 2-digit date, then a U, the a four digit serial number for the year. Good looking gun, by the way! I'm a major Browning fan...:D

Looks like a Browning Challenger 1 .22 Caliber Target Pistol.

The factory grips where replaced with a set of Factory Medalist Right Hand Grips.
