>Massad Ayoob considers High Standard Sentinel one of 10 best handguns<
Actually, no. If you check the table of contents of that book, you will see 21 guns, going from the 1911 to the S&W "Landmark Service Pistol" (whatever the hell that is). And while it is true that the High Standard is #10, the guns are listed in alphabetical order. Seven Colts, Glock as a whole, HK as a whole, the High Standard Sentinel, the Luger, two Rugers and eight Smith and Wessons.
I used to have a 4-inch Mark IV.
Came with two cylinders - LR and magnum. Traded it off. Beat myself up about that frequently.
I've owned several over the years. For many years a $100. or less gun until 2008 and the Obama gun buying frenzy. I'd buy one and have fun shooting it, need some cash and/or get a too good pass offer and sell it. Then get another later. During the 2008-9 frenzy they virtually disappeared. Apparently one of the more popular used models. And since then when found, prices had risen significantly. And have stayed up. If you find one in good firing condition for less than $200. now days...BUY IT.
I have a pristine Deluxe model that if ever fired, hasn't been fired much. I'm kinda just sitting on it. But I'm going to get myself another one for a shooter.
