Red Cross is, and has been for years, a scam. Probably 90% of the money donated to the Red Cross goes to pay the people running it.

But still, >After Sandy, volunteers wandered the streets of New York in search of stricken neighborhoods, lost because they had not been given GPS equipment to guide them.< Nobody ever heard of a map? How in the world did people find their way before Tom Tom? :p

I don't own a GPS yet.I have nothing whatsoever against them though.I still rely on my map book and spoken directions if needed.I guess it's nothing short of a miracle that I manage to always reach my destination.

I guess we all pretty much agree that the Red Cross isn't what it's supposed to be, I don't give them a dime! I will give to the Salvation Army. As to Tom Tom's, I had one that worked great! Plug in an address, and follow the instructions on the screen, and you got where you were going. It finally bit the dust after about 6 years. Bought a new one, and it's the pits! Plug in any address, and it always says "No such Address"! What's up with that? I will be taking it back to Best Buy for a replacement.

I was going to a cowboy match one time. They printed directions, and drew a map, on their website, as to how to get to the range. I printed this out.

Son-in-law - very into the latest technology - plugged the address into Tom Tom. "This will take us right there." We drove right past the exit the printed directions said to get off at. Drove into the center of town. Tom Tom did not know the address of the range, so took us to the middle of town instead. Frustrated SIL finally accepted using old-school technology, and we followed the map to the range. :p

Maps always work! Some time the reader isn't sharp enough to figure it out, but the map always works! It might not give you addresses, but if you are on the right street, you can find the block numbers easy enough.
