Hello,

I inherited an old Sears model 34 .22 LR. It also says SEARS - TED WILLIAMS. I do not know much about this little rifle except it needs a lot of parts.

Is this type of gun worth fixing up or turning it in scrap metal.

This one is a bit confusing. Th gun is what I would call "Store Brand Name" gun. It was made for Sears Roebuck by some major maker. In the Hoosier Gun Works cross reference listing a Sears Model 34 crosses to a J. C. Higgins Model 34 which is another name used by Sears. There is no J. C.Higgins Model 34 listed. There are other Model 34s listed some a shotgun, some I don't know what they are. You say the gun is a .22 long rifle. Is it a bolt action, pump or semi auto?
Depending on what parts are missing, replacements could cost more hat the gun is worth, your call.

This is the aluminum receiver designs by High Standard made exclusively for Sears. There is no High Standard equivalent.. Obviously Hoosier Gun Works has it wrong. There were four versions of the model 34 - two carbine and two rifle Sears Ident numbers 583.3400, 583.3401, 583.3402, and 583.3403. Sears sold a bunch of them.

Well, some parts are. Some of these rifles came in a fancy suitcase looking case that kinda looks like a Fender electric guitar case. My experience with these is largely what we see here. People looking for parts to fix broken ones. But there are some guys on .22 collectors forum that I'm a member of that absolutely LOVE these guns. Claim they are great guns.

I have a Wards Westernfield that was my Dad's squirrel hunting gun.
It took a while but I found it was made in the late 1930's, most likely 1936-38.
Many of those old 22's were built by the same manufacturer for different stores.
a/k/a Ted Williams for Sears, Wards Westernfield for Montgomery Wards.
Mine is a single shot bolt action (short, long, & long rifle, I think) & has a center stem that needs to be pulled out (towards shooter) once the bolt is down to engage firing pin (or so I was told)
I shoot it once a year just for the memories of shooting with my Dad
Little to no value from everyone's educated opinion (but mine)
