I Finally bought a extended magazine release for my 10/22. I guess it was about time, I have only had the gun since 1970. I love it, but have to get used to it. I kept trying to use the old stock release, of course isn't there anymore. Maybe after a couple hundred rounds it will be second nature.

I bought two of these last year, on someone here's recommendation. One for each 10/22 I own. I didn't wait but 10 years on one and 1 on the other - but I digress. Anyway, I believe that Ruger should have these as standard equipment on all of them. Until I got this, I just about always had to "dig" the 10 round magazine out of one of the rifles.

Yea George, that thread is what got me thinking of getting one. I keep forgetting to check into them when I'm at the LGS. Fiddling with the stock release with numb fingers here in the winter finally did it for me. I've kept the gun pretty much stock, except for the brimstone trigger job. I recommend their tier 2 work. Raven/gvw3, that's it, I should be good for the next 45 years.

I didn't rush into getting one either but after about 15 years or more I finally put one on my 10/22. If you haven't already done so there is one more little change you should make and that is a bolt release.

There are some videos on just modifying the stock piece but knowing me and a dremel tool I figured the safe thing to do was just buy one and put the stock piece away for "in case".

the two greatest upgrades for a 10/22 are the extended mag release and the extended bolt release.
My hands are big and I hate fumbling around with the bolt release

below is the Power Custom extended automatic bolt release. They are about $14 and when installed, they give your finger something to grab on and easily work the bolt catch.
Then, you can release the bolt with a simple bump on the bolt handle just like an M1 Garand.

they only take a few minutes to install.

Thanks Coop., or like Todd posted, you can take a drumall and hollow out the hole at the top. It just needs to be elonggated a little. There's a few videos on U-tube showing what to do. I was going to do it, but like I said Brimstone did it for me when they did the trigger job. I really didn't notice how bad my stock trigger pull was on the 10/22 untill i bought a browning sa-22, which is set to break, i believe at about 3#. Now the 10/22 is set to 2.5#. What a difference!

I just they would put the new after market trigger in at the factory as standard trigger instead of the 9# trigger that comes standard.

Yea, when I watched dbcooper's video on 10/22 optional items, I saw the one that you have. It's a little more on the classier side compared to the one that I got. But mine is a lot handier then the stock one that I have used for many years.
