IVER JOHNSON'S ARMS AND CYCLE WORKS FITCHBURG MASS USA CHAMPION
(what is engraved on the stock?)
Iver Johnson made one version or the other single barrel Champion from 1900 until 1957. Bill Goforth stated that shotguns with all numbers in the serial number were made from 1909 to 1919. Value, well , .410 is a desirable caliber caliber but the gun looks as if it was rode hard and put away wet ( rough looking ). I don't think the value would exceed 50 dollars , if the bore is clean and unpited maybe 75. Others may have more or more valid information or perhaps different opinions. Hope that helps.
Thank you for the fast reply! I know it's been through a lot, I mean it's probably over a hundreds years old and I thought the lower the serial number the more valuable it is?
Another question, Would a 1909 .410 be more valuable then a 1956 .410? Would the year matter at all?
Condition, more than age, would dictate value in these old IJ guns. If two guns are in identical, very good condition, the older might be more desirable to a collector--but in tens of dollars. Yours is far from collectible.
That was a very good deal, did you have a mask on when you sold it What was it that P.T. Barnum used to say about one every minute .
